Ol Johnny is staring a sophomore slump in the face.

The dude is talented and will be a good to great QB on that alone, but if his head isn't in the game this year, he's going to make a ton of stupid mistakes and lose them some ballgames they should win.

I think what is going to be interesting to watch is what, if anything, Sumlin is going to do about this situation. He might be able to handle it "in house" right now, but if they drop a game (or two) they aren't supposed to, this situation could quickly get toxic.

As YOU said? You're trying to take credit for something that everyone with a fully functional brain saw coming in December of 2012?

I'm not taking credit. Just generating discussion. Didn't say it was my viewpoint only.

Are you sure you are old enough to play on the interwebs? Last time I heard a retort like this was on a playground.

This part certainly leaves you out.

Much ado about nothing

He got drunk. Big deal. If the Mannings don't kick him out this is never a story. Dick move by Archie Dickhead Manning. Possible thread hijack but the fact the drinking age in USA is 21 is a 17ing joke. Johnny Foosball has won a Heisman but still can't buy a beer. He made aTm a half a BILLION dollars but can't buy a shot of Tequila. Wtf

The article I read said he would serve no additional jail time and be given credit of time served. He does get a $2,000 fine which appears to be no big deal for him. I was reading the comment section and one person said that if Johnny wasn't careful he would be the next Marshal Henderson.

When

you're in the position he is in, you are expected to have more discipline than your average 20 year old. This isn't Meatballs, the movie.

I think the issue at hand is not getting drunk. I doubt Archie cared about that. I think the problem is Archie has paying customers that were expecting to see JFF, and he's too "sick" to show up on time. Pretty ****** example to tie your product to if you are the Mannings.

If I'm not mistaken the Manning QB academy is for high schoolers. The college QBs are there as mentors and counselors. That's so incredibly innappropriate for somebody in that role. Hell, I probably would have done something similar at that age, but at the age I am now (29) I would definitely say I should have been sent home.
Also, athletes win gold medals when they are 14ish. Should they be allowed to go get 17ed up too?

If you like pain, go to youtube to see manziel highlights vs us last year. He could play half as good and still kill us.

Archie's the dickhead? Since when does winning the Heisman give you the right to be irresponsible, immature, drunk and unable to show up for a function where you are advertised as a Heisman Trophy winning participant? I can't stand Barrett Sallee but I think he hit the nail on the head today:

He was invited to the camp to be a coach and a mentor, so his responsibility is to be a coach and a mentor. This isn't a case of leaving friends high and dry in downtown College Station. He was invited to be a coach and mentor by one of the most prestigious football families in the country—a family that has connections to all 32 of Manziel's potential future employers in the NFL.

You just said it yourself. "Where you are ADVERTISED as a Heisman Trophy winning participant". Whose making that money at the camp off of Johnny Manziel's name? Archie Manning. I'm not disagreeing that Manziel should get punished. I just think making it a national story is extreme.

Daddy Manning didn't want JFF to influence the reigning Conerly Trophy winner.

This is a camp for high school kids and he was supposed to be a camp counselor. That's the issue here. I guarantee you that if Archie and Cooper didn't do anything, there would be a ton of complaints, which is bad business.

I think all of us went to camps in some shape or form growing up whether it was football camp, church camp, cheerleading camp- whatever- when we were in high school. If the counselors at any of those had shown up hung over- or not shown up because they were hung over, they would have been sent home too. It's because if they allowed that, it would potentially start the possibility of alcohol being provided to minors, and that is illegal in most places and thus a liability for the camp itself.

Plus, I think the Manning's are trying to teach these football players responsibility and accountability, and it's kind of hard to follow through on that if you allow one of your counselors to show up late and hung over. If they show up to work or play in the NFL and are hung over, the same thing is going to happen. Unless they play for the 1970's Oakland Raiders.

It's the Heisman trophy winning stud quarterback at aTm though. You don't kick him out. Yea you will have some upset parents but you wont have a soon to be mega millionaire pissed off at you for life. Johnny Manziel will have more money and influence on who goes to that camp than all those parents COMBINED. If this was about the business of the Manning Camp than they just made one of the stupidest business decisions ever.

Unless we have wholesale changes in our D

The type of versatile QB like Manziel will continue to give us fits. We played badly but it wasn't just our players. The soft ***, bend don't break defense is horrible against a quality dual threat.

I'm pretty sure Archie, Peyton, and the fam will be ok both financially and emotionally if Johnny Manziel is mad at them.

Really? You think it's going to affect the Mannings at all if Manziel is pissed at them? And how pissed could he be anyway? He has to know that they had to let him go.

I can assure

you the Mannings don't care whatsoever what Manziel thinks about them, and he'll have no effect on future Manning academies.

Have you seen who they have as instructors at their camp?

Jon Gruden. Andrew Luck. Philip Rivers. Sam Bradford. Chip Kelly. And that was just THIS year. Whose corner do you think those guys are going to be in when it comes to Johnny Football vs. the Manning's? The Manning's have more power and money than Johnny Football will ever have in the football world. It's not even remotely close. We don't even know if Manziel will make it in the NFL or not yet.

If this was alcohol related, I guarantee you most parents are going to applaud this decision. Now, Manziel is supposed to explain what happened on Weds., but I have a feeling that the Manning's probably did the right thing.

And if you look on the Manning Passing Academy Website, they are very clear that they have strict rules. If they go away from that then the rules don't have very much meaning.

He accepted the invitation to participate. He he couldn't participate because he got 17ed up and was "dehydrated". He was dismissed because of it, the same as if any other qb instructor would be. Archie "the dickhead" (your words) dismissed him and didn't make a big deal out of it. The media made the big deal of it, the Manning Academy said he had a virus. You and Manziel apparently are the only 2 that don't get it. I can't believe I have now defended Barrett Sallee and Waldo Manning in the same thread
