for Dan Mullen, he undoubtedly has to consider the assistant coaches as well. It will take between 400 to 450 grand to reward the assistants appropriately. Two guys in particular who are underpaid are Coach Manny Diaz and Coach Hevesy. Those guys have the most merit. Diaz was paid 200k as codefensive coordinator. Is Diaz the "co-coordinator" or is he the DC? If he is to become the DC, he has got to be bumped to the 300 to 325k range. And I have no idea what Hevesy makes, but whatever is is, it isn't enough. He is a miracle worker. Pay the man.

Balis....Diaz....Hevesy. I agree, Diaz needs a big bump...but Balis is critical in my opinion.

Agree. Balis was Mullen's best hire. I wonder how long we can keep him until other schools find out about him.

Wilson is just as important to Diaz as a d-line coach and recruiter. What raise we give Diaz we will give Wilson. I know everyone loves Diaz because he is the face guy but Wilson is just as important.

Houston Nutt: $2,509,000/yr
That works out to $627,250 per win for them this year.

Dan Mullen: $1,208,295/yr
Which equals $151,037 per win.

Nutt is a costly. Dan is twice the coach and makes half as much. Get him his payday now.

Plus, they're both in the first year of their contract too. I think we could figure out a way to get them both a small raise, but nothing huge.

I think Hevesy and Bailis are the two guys that we can really pat on the back. </p>

He thought (and I thought this too) that Dan wasn't as concerned with more money for himself when he was hired (or maybe this was after last year?). I think he made a statement to Byrne at some point that he would rather use some of that money to hire top-notch assistants.

I can't remember if that had to do with the Torbush hire, or maybe it was the Diaz/Wilson co-DC situation we have now. But there's also the Hud-Koenning duo on offense. Not to mention Balis and Hevesy -- two of the most important guys on the staff. That's a lot of assistant firepower that had to be funded.
