(an immigrant who voted for trump btw ) I agree with the president . People forget we are and have been at war with people who have tortured people , Raped women, Killed children and Literally chopped heads of journalists on live video . If it causes people to wait to come in until we know who they are that's a small price to pay To protect our freedom. It is a privilege not a right to come to America . A privilege some immigrants like my father understand .

My grandfather was an illegal alien. Wanted to come to America for an opportunity. He paid to come over on a ship into Canada and snuck across the boarder. He worked in the mines and later in steel mills. He just wanted a chance at a better life.

My paternal grandfather came over from Austria and worked for 5 years in the mines to make enough money to bring over my grandmother. My maternal grandfather did virtually the same thing. He was from Italy and worked for a couple of years (frankly I'm not sure where) before he could send for his wife, my grandmother. They all just wanted a better life as well.

A country must have control and decision making over all that want to enter our country. Your grandfather was benign with wonderful intentions. Not all entrants are and even if they have great intentions, a country must be able to control its borders. It's first responsibility is the safety and the security of its citizens and that is why our immigration laws exist.

I appreciate that . I'm not for banning immigration I am for a moratorium until we can better vet who comes here .

I agree. When our CIA and FBI agree that we can't properly vet the migrants/refugees, we have to protect our citizens. I am actually hopeful we can develop safe spaces in Syria (my wife's relatives from Syria believe it is the best option). As for the other countries on the list, we have to know all about the person before they are allowed to enter and the problem is that official records are very, very difficult to come by. And simple interrogation isn't enough, imo.

I think the roll out could have been handled better with more notice, but maybe more notice would have created even more problems or even advanced attacks. So difficult to tell.

I am against the Muslim ban. Want to stop terrorism? Stop invading and bombing their countries to kingdom come. Stop overthrowing their governments and taking out their leaders. That's how you minimize terrorism. Also, the ban is intriguing as it excludes many countries Trump's businesses are linked to.

Those 7 countries were identified by Obama as sources of terror

It's non a Muslim anything. The list, which may expand, is of Countries that are predominantly Muslim. Dianne Feinstein and others have said they were going to register as Muslims. Where exactly does one register, the Sears Bridal Shop? The Federal Government doesn't have a religious registry. It wouldn't surprise me if Intel Agencies check backgrounds of all protesters, but there is no registry.

There is no muslim ban. I am against morons believing what they see on tv and the net without figuring out the truth on their own.

I'm against this dumbass ban. But hypothetically speaking, if you're going to make a list and you leave off Saudi Arabia, you have zero credibility
LOL I saw a list the other day of the most predominantly Muslim countries - in the top 10 only one was on the list yet people will call this a Muslim ban.

Immigration has been a major focus of this election cycle, with Republicans routinely calling for more restrictions to ensure security in the United States. But did James Comey actually say the FBI "cannot properly vet" people coming from the Middle East?

No, he didn’t. Beruff is distorting a point Comey was making about a flaw in the vetting process, but he was reiterating the system in place was actually much better than it had been in years past.

Good intentions sometimes turns into bad consequences. I don't know if Trump's order is good intentions by him or the morons that keep making excuses for him but some people believe it was as they understand things and it can be interpreted as such with the OP. But fact remains, this President has enacted a very poor policy that wasn't well thought out and is not being executed properly because of it and not only has embarrassed what our country stands for but has also turned the world against us making citizens of our country less safe. Is that what is best for the country?

Not going that far. But Bin Laden was a fighter in the Afghan resistance against Russia that we supported passionately. We also approved and funded the building of jihadist madrasas that taught hatred for the western world in order to hopefully create an Islamic uprising against the Soviet Union.

We also supported the brutal dictatorships of the Shah in Iran and Hussein in Iraq (providing Sadaam with anthrax which he used). Not to mention the brutality and extremist sentiment that we saught to foster in these nations to prevent the acquisition of oil lands by the Soviet Union without committing to putting our own boots on the ground.

It's not as simple as you make it out to be.

LOL do you not watch the MSM?
If you've got Muslim friends in any of those 7 countries don't expect a visit from them soon. Assuming that Giuliani is telling the truth, Trump wanted at least a temporary Muslim immigration ban from those 7 countries and it seems as though he got what he wanted.

But it wasn't a ban on those 7 countries under Obama, right?

"In December 2015 Obama signed into law a measure placing some restrictions on certain travelers from Iran, Iraq, Sudan or Syria. A couple of months later, Libya, Somalia and Yemen were added."

That wasn't the point in question......it was about the list of countries. I never said Obama put a ban in place. We can all question if a restriction leads to being not let in means a "ban" I would say that person who was not allowed in would consider it a ban. I may be wrong but I think many of the people Trump has banned might be allowed in after they undergo further vetting.
