Entrance ison Orleans St but just off bourbon as well and very close to Jxn Square, the Gumbo Shoppe and Johnny Po-Boys. The H.Inn Chateau Lemoyne is also a good one----real close to my favorite bar- Old Absinthe House, also very close to Acme Oyster house, Mr B's and Galatoire's.

mainly because we always stay closer to Canal for whatever reason. Also closer to French Mkt., Cafe Du Monde.

Very nice hotel though.

Stayed there last September. I've stayed in several French Quarter hotels and I really liked the Omni Royal Orleans the most. Close to Bourbon St, but quiet.

Best central location for walking to Bourbon St., Royal St., or Jackson Square/Cafe Du Mode, but cabs also always waiting right outside the the door.

The Monte is the best hotel in the Quarter. From a value, location and customer service stand point, it's unmatched.

My favorite is the Dauphine Orleans - just far enough away from the noise but close enough to the action. Easy walk to Bourbon and Cafe du Monde. GOOD bar on site (old house of ill repute). Excellent service and staff willing to accommodate and please. Good valet service. Nice courtyard. Good breakfast bar. Tempurpedic beds.

...I figured it was a dump when I didn't get the usual Marriott on Canal, but it was just the opposite. Ever since I hope priceline gives it to me when I'm in New Orleans. The rooms can be a LONG walk from the elevator due the layout being in a dead ended square, but the location and everything else about it is great.

I also like Lowes, and the Omni Royal Orleans. I've heard a lot of people rave about Country Inn and Suites just outside the Quarter. I've also stayed at the Drury Inn for budget and it was fine.

for a nice hotel you can get dirt cheap go for the Intercontinental.

right off canal, easy walk anywhere

you can go on hotwire.com and get it for 65-80 bucks a night all day every day

I took a last minute trip to Nola and this place had the only rooms in the quarter available. I know why. We got there and our room had not been cleaned from the previous guest. They took us to another room where the keys didn't work and I had to wait about an hour for the lone guy working at the time to find the correct keys. Don't do it.

LOL...ask me where I am right now. :)

I travel to NO often. Usually stay at Homeood Suites or Hilton on St Charles. Those are decent hotels. Right now is my 1st time to actually stay in the Quarter. Staying in the Quarter is overrated, as cabs aren't expensive. Anyway, I'm in theHoliday Inn on Royal. One block from Bourbon. Its the Holiday Inn, which means it doesn't suck. Not great, but doesn't suck either.

I'd rather say at Hilton St Charles for about the same money, much nicer place, and a cab ride from the French Quarter.

PS - not that you'd care, but the internet here is SLOOOWWWWWW.....
