we land Robinson, Wells, and Thompson........Even should we sign those last 3, we will easily still be in the bottom half of recruiting in the SEC........This is Mullen's first class at MSU and to be honest, it's not near as good as I was hoping or expecting........

you are putting too much stock in stars. I think we have a really good chance on some blue chippers that are leaning our way.

Let's not base all our recruiting on Newton. One player does not make a class.

always ranked high year in/out in recruiting are the same ones in the polls at the end of the year, especially in the SEC...Sure, some 2 and 3 star players turn out to be very good players and versely some 4/5 star players never live up their potential.......Remember this though, great players make great coaches......Our recruiting class is below average for the SEC.......No ifs, ands, or buts, that's just the way it is and that is if we land Robinson, Thompson, and Wells......If not, we will be near or at the bottom........

Don't you know Mississippi players are all underrated??? Especially the ones that commit to MSU??? Stars only matter to the big schools. Or that's what I tell myself.

Maybe some of it is true.

This class can end very bad and that worries me. But I won't judge Mullen on that just yet. We can see how we do next year. I just hope we get at least 2 of the 4 4* we are after. I felt like if we would have gotten Newton, it would have jump started recruiting and gave us a little momentum.

Seems reasonable to take a year to get plugged into the high school coaches network (although I would have hoped last year helped), plus he's recruiting to a 5-7 season. Next year, He should have a better record to recruit to.

Having a thin class this year won't help and will probably keep us from making another step up if it doesn't actually cause a backslide, but I feel like you can survive having to fill a few holes with freshman, as long as its not at qb (where we should be set) or OL.

well be the worst OL class in the SEC......Other than Robinson, we only have a 3 star OL (Eatmon) that we have offered and the rest are 2 stars....Not looking good at all.......Maybe next years OL class in MS is good, I'm not sure so Mullen may be holding out for next year, who knows.......

Barring some unforeseen mishap or something happening that would bring his baseball career to an abrupt ending, he's thru with football......I would be too if I was his size and could throw a baseball like he can......He could be a very dominant pitcher in due time........

If you believe what MSU fans have said for years now, we sign a highly underrated recruiting class every year. For some strange reason they don't ever seem to be able to help us climb out of the SEC cellar though.

Seriously though, the bottom line is that we may even have a top 20 class in any given year, but that class may be ranked at or near the bottom in the SEC. If we played a majority of our schedule against the rest of the country, we'd be fine. We don't though,. We play eight SEC games every year. Stars and class rankings do matter, no matter how many times we try to fool ourselves into thinking they don't.
