Former Saint Steve Gleason who famously blocked the punt in the first game back home in the Dome against the Falcons wrote an article for SI this morning describing his life with ALS from the perspective or a former professional athlete.

An Atlanta talk show heard about it and did a tasteless bit where they pretended to interview him by using the type to voice thing on a computer, going as far to talk about him dying next week.

Prime example of taking sports fandom too far.

What the 17 is wrong with some people? How could anyone think it's funny to make fun of a handicapped person with a terminal illness? I love how he just tries to pass it off with, "Hey, we took a shot and it didn't work. Live and learn." No. You didn't just "take a shot." There is something fundamentally wrong with you as a human being.

I'm just glad that Steve is still a major staple of the Saints organization. He's got a lot of heavy hitters on his side, including a pretty important NFLPA figure in Scott Fujita. Something is going to come of this, and I hope to see the Falcons organization disaffiliate from these sickos.

Fired all three of them.
We deeply regret the offensive programming that aired this morning on “Mayhem In The AM” on 790 The Zone, related to former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason and his battle with ALS. We suspended the three individuals involved immediately following their comments and have since terminated their employment. 790 The Zone, our owners, sponsors and partners in no way endorse or support this kind of content. We sincerely apologize to Mr. Gleason, his family and all those touched by ALS.

This question bears repeating. What the 17 is wrong with these people?

I just listened to the "bit", and I'm truly repulsed. I don't know how they can ever be hired again for an on-the-air position...maybe not even a production job. It takes a twisted person to think that was was funny...something "fundamentally wrong" for sure.
