There sure have been a lot of "Tickets Still Available" tweets from our athletic department in the last week or so.

I know A&M didn't use its allotment. Are we not close to a sellout or something? I've just never seen us promote ticket sales as much as we have for this game.

I know a handful of people who are quick to make excuses about missing games. But I haven't heard the 11 a.m. excuse from anyone this week.

You must live within 3 hours of Starkville. TSUN @ 3 with Gameday and SEC Nation in Miss. add to the desire to stay at home.

5 hours away and I plan to be at the tailgate for 8 a.m.

Don't give 2 ***** about watching gameday or the ole miss game when we have a big match-up at home

Seriously? Your excuse for not coming is so you can stay home and watch gameday in Oxford.

Neither does anybody else.** But with that attitude no wonder nobody shares their gameday plans with you.

But have you made your "Don't give 2 ***** about watching gameday or the ole miss game" poster yet?**

I think the key part you missed was that I don't care about whats on tv when we have a big match-up at home. reference the part where I said "big match-up at home"

Um, I really don't give a **** about game day. I can't speak for anyone else, but it isn't some sour grapes ruse. I really don't care where it is. Sometimes I watch it, but usually not. If we have a chance to host, that's nice. But I am pulling for the teams to win that give us a better chance at winning the West, not hosting game day. And I'm certainly not gonna watch it just because it's in Oxford.

I'm coming in from Atlanta. Yes, I wish I could go to every game but 5 hours is 5 hours. Don't hate. Obviously this is one of the biggest games of the last 25 years (I was at the SEC Championship game against TN) because if we win this, we are playing with house money against Auburn. If you gave ANYONE on this board the option of winning 2 of 3, much less all three, of LSU, aTm, and Auburn before the season, (s)he would fall all over themselves to take that.

I will be at MSU around 8:30 and tail gate with some friends before the game. We will go back to the tail gate after the game for a little while then leave. Heck since the game is so early we will probably eat in Starkville before going home.

I don't know that I have ever heard a State fan say the reason he isn't going to the game is he wants to watch Ole Miss more.

I just can't fight the traffic late at night with a 10 year old. It's just easier to get to Louisville when it late. However early games are not a problem. I want my son to know Starkville. He is a die hard State fan and will probably go to school there one day and want him to be comfortable when he gets there. Late night is not good for us. Driving home with a kid late worries me. Might break down or worse fall asleep while driving. I spent many of good days in Starkville as a MSU student.

Sounds like GloryDawg is gonna hang around starkville long enough for a bathroom break and 121josey can't pull himself away from the TV for gameday in Oxford.

Just joking with you, GloryDawg.

I've been getting those emails and such too, but I think there'll be more at this game that there was at the Southern Miss game.

Flew in for USM, flying in for A&M and again next weekend, even if they give us the Bloody Mary and Mimosa special for Auburn as well. This team deserves a full house.

We added ~6,000 additional seats and TAMU only sold about 2,000 of their ~7,000, so that leaves us with about 11,000 seats extra from a normal SEC game last year. That's a lot of extra seats to fill. Auburn won't be as hard because they will travel well and it will probably (hopefully) be a night game. You can see all of the seats that are still available from hailstate.com and there are at least a couple of thousand left. Some very large sections in the corners of the East and all over the West side uppers.

Sounds like you still haven't from a State fan.

That there, my boys, is the elusive hybrid fan. The one that has "a house divided" tag on his car, yet lives alone. He often references "good for the magnolia state." He has "good friends" from Oxford and looks forward to a good, even game at the end of each November. He often chants hail toddy and rings his land shark bell. He roots for the team with the best record. Usually you would never see them out in the open, except when both schools have similar records, playing at similar stakes (that's when the natural camouflage deteriorates). Be careful, my friends... They spook easy when exposed.

Saturday will be the largest crowd to ever watch a sporting event in the state of Mississippi.
This has to be true, right?

Nowadays, game times are primarily selected for TV audiences, not the actual ticket purchasing fans. Until that changes, expect more potential ticket buyers to take the path of least resistance and watch the games on TV.

You need to catch up. The restroom stop joke wasn't about me. It was about my son and if you must know I will man up until I get home. As for my son he will probably use the Union before we leave if he needs to go. You can PM me your cell number and I can send you a text message if you want to watched. Seem pretty important to you.

That probably would either be 81 MSU-USM or 84 MVSU-Alcorn.

From http://www.mssportsmagazine.com/msm-features/a-history-of-mississippi-veterans-memorial-stadium:
The 1981 USM-MSU matchup: Southern clinches a narrow 7-6 victory before a crowd reported at 64,112 – a figure some claim set the stadium’s all-time attendance record. The game would be the first in a series of eight consecutive meetings between the two schools in Jackson.

. . .

The 1984 Mississippi Valley – Alcorn State game: At that point in the season both teams were undefeated. The Totten-Rice combination, along with heavy media coverage surrounding the game, results in a capacity crowd at the stadium above 64,000. (Discrepancies in the attendance figures exist, but many claim the crowd was larger than that of the ‘81’ USM-MSU game).
