was only a matter of time before the smoldering sparks erupted and a
destructive fire was unleashed; the man furiously fanning the flames has
been relentless in his quest.
For the last two decades, the
dark side of SEC football rivalry has been fomented by an unprincipled
opportunist who makes his money preying on the most base instincts of
the weak-minded, using his microphone every week day to whip his
cult-like followers into a mad frenzy. He finally helped one step over
the edge. Strike one up for the Jerry Springer of Alabama sports radio.
Let
me be clear here, the person that killed the Toomer's Oaks committed
his act on his own, but his hate was cultivated by the toxic atmosphere
of the Paul Finebaum Radio Show. The man poisoned the trees alone, but
Finebaum essentially handed him the the herbicide. And like a good
disciple, the poisoner called his mentor to brag and to get approval for
what he had done.
I wonder what Finebaum thinks of the
creation he has wrought? Is he peering in from a quiet place like a
pyromaniac returning to the scene of his crime?
Paul? If there
is a remote wisp of a conscience anywhere in your pitiful being, I hope
you will listen to it. This is as much on your hands as it is on the
man who will go to jail for this act.
