The "Quick Rick" bit is a sustained effort to keep fresh the idea that this league has a deplorable, incorrigible sleazebag in its ranks, and that should not be forgotten. He would slash our throats to gain a nickel's worth of advantage, but his moral transgressions are extraordinary, too. The guy even exploits his late brother-in-law to shine light on himself. Honestly, I'm being gracious by focusing mostly on his tabletop exploits.
Plus, it is a healthy outlet for my inner 12-year-old.
I've got no beef with Danny whatsoever. He's volatile, and is a little over the top sometimes, but he owns it and it is only harmful to himself and his image. But I appreciate the way he's overcome some personal struggles to become the best coach in the sport. He's still ours, as an alum and as a headliner in the Big East. He paid our guy $4 million or more to come? We were never going to top that, and it wasn't even close. Danny didn't undercut us; we were never in that game, and someone else would've given Hines that money, too.

I don't care whether posters like Saint Danny or not. I happen to like him.
But if you can't find by the irony and hilarity of a year+ of countless posts about the evil Slick Rick and the "R word" getting Kadary, followed by the "Hurley would never take a Seton Hall player" stuff in comparison, followed by Hurley going out stealing our best player and the most promising big we've had in a decade (with 3 or even 4 years of eligibility left), I don't know what to tell you.
It sounds like you've made a composite of all the Friends of Danny who post here. I don't recall ever believing or posting that he would never take a Seton Hall player, though I suppose some have said as much. In any case, there is a pretty wide gulf between the character of Quick Rick and Dan Hurley, and thus -- at least for me -- the difference in my attitudes toward them .
