if someone burned my son's redshirt for 52 minutes of play like we did last year, I'd be pretty mad.

Stansbury shouldn't be mad for wasting a scholarship on a lazy pouter?

I hope someone tells him to call Reggie Delk and little Ben before he makes an incredibly stupid decision. He could start every game next year if he chooses.

we can easily replace him with another no-name Holcombe-type JUCO (sarcasm intended). Heck, we are having enough problems trying to find a decent big man to replace Johnson or in the worst case scenario, Varnado, for next year. Good luck trying to find another 6'8 guy that can actually shoot.

want to leave. If he backs it up more power to him. Dontae Jones had a similar problem with Richard Williams. Williams did not want dontae shooting the ball as much as he did . Stayed on his *** all season. But Dontae went on a tear in the SEC tourny and NCAA and Williams could not say a thing. Kodi has opened his mouth now lets see if he backs it up cause talk is cheap.

....he's gone. Just think, Hans was denying it at this point last year. This guy is openly saying it.

I'll be extremely suprised if he stays, and I'd say there is at least a 50/50 chance that we lose Kodi plus somebody unexpected.

How's he going to do that when the 35+ minute bunch + Jarvis all return? Is Stains going to all of a sudden fall out of love with the 4 guard lineup?

and then will he have 1 or 2 years of eligibility left? i'm not sure if sitting out a year will cost him a year or not?

We must lead the nation in transfers. He is playing good now. Stans needs to give him more PT in the tournament.

Kodi's new status with the team is just another turn of the hourglass. I think most of this will be settled as we go through the postseason. Kodi is either going to be an increasingly important piece, or it'll go the other way.

As it all plays out, I say he ends up staying.

Ok here it is...all you other 17ers that don't know ****, shut the hell up. From the horse's mouth, the player in question could not remember what he was suppose to do from one end of the court to the other. Also, not much work ethic at practice. So move on to another subject to ***** about, and this time hopefully ya'll will pick something you know a little bit about.

He's gone.. and yes I have inside information.. He has told 2 people in the past week, 1 the night of the Florida game, and the other after the ole miss game, that he is 100% gone.. also a few of my basketball buddies have said it too.. he says he cant take another risk of not playing again next year like this year.. he says rick is a cheater and he doesnt care about the players.. Look for Rice or Houston to be his next school..

There are also grumblings of twanny, holcombe, and elgin as well.. Doubt they all go, but this is not good

Yeah, Stans runs such a complicated system that it takes a two years to learn. I imagine the dude is probably arrogant and Stans wanted to teach him a lesson. Looks like alot more of Williams rubbed off on Stans than meets the eye.

24 posts and you have all the info. The kid might have been unhappy for not playing, most kids are, but as usual it will be blown out of proportion and the rumors will outnumber the facts. He sat because he was clueless and he had every chance to get it early and he didn't. Hopefully he sat, practiced harder and learned what blocking out and rebounding were as well as defense. He is now being given a chance to produce, just like Rhodes was and if he has any sense, he'll keep it up and improve. This board has already had a thread about the players that transferred under Williams and I guess in the daily "bash Stansbury thread", we can rehash it for the umpteenth time. I actually think some of you root for MSU to fail so you can get your fix of bitching everyday.

not to mention being so cliche' with the post smack...wow....

Based on recent trends, most normal people would take this very seriously. Many of us will be shocked if he does return.

And comparing him to Rhodes is dumb, which I've come to expect from you..Rhodes started the entire season during his Soph year for the most part..he was playing about 30 mins a game

1. Burning a redshirt in basketball is totally different than football. Only 10 or 12 players on team. Many only stay a few years. You play for this year. Each guy competes for PT and gets what he earns. Either Augustus didn't earn more or Stans doesn't put his best team on the floor. I believe it is the former. In the end, a talented player is only as useful as he submits himself to being a part of the team. 2. Judging by his own interviews, Augustus is a typical dumbass kid. Attitude is me first and he seems defiant. In college basketball, the kids have to commit to the system and play team ball. Augustus evidently has only recently adjusted to this, whether he admits it or not. Stans' major fault is that he often recruits the most talented player regardless of character. At least every two or three years, we'll have a kid that mouths off in the media and causes trouble (Robert Jackson, Walter Sharpe, Gary Ervin, and on and on). Augustus is in danger of joining this crew. None of those kids did much better elsewhere. Neither would Augustus if he continues to be resistant to discipline and fails to commit to the team (as he apparently did early on here).

I don't think he likes the four guard lineup either, and he did give Kodi a shot to start at the beginning of the year. don't know what he will do next year if Kodi returns but I wouldn't be surprised if he gives Kodi another shot. I could see him making Phil turner come off of the bench as the sixth man, because we all know that there is a better cahnce of Kodi coming back than Stansbury making Stewart come off of the bench. At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if he stays with the four guard lineup either. Or see Osby get a shot to start next year if he steps his game up.

Oh sorry, I didn't know that the amount of times I post on sixpack and the amount of info I have was proportional. Your an idiot. You don't have to believe me, but don't try to bash me since I don't post much. Seriously? That's not even a put down. Did you know that they have already given him his transfer papers? Did you know that he tried to transfer in December? They gave him his papers then too, but Stansbury was able to get him to stay. Then did you know that he stopped going to practice for a week because he was quitting the team? Sounds like a guy who really wants to play here doesn't it? But none of this is true because its only my 25th post. Just let me know at what post number I will actually be able to contribute to the board.

P.S.- I am one of the biggest MSU fans here. I never want us to fail. I want Kodi to stay as much as anyone because the guy is very good and he could really help us out next year. I dont want Stans fired either. Im not a Stans basher. I have never said anything negative towards Stans. This thread is about Kodi, not Stansbury. So get back to me when you bring something useful to the table.

that nobody knows whether he is leaving or not, Kodi included. This weekend will decide a lot. I hope he stays, because he's got enough talent to start next year and be a major contributor if he works hard in the off-season. If his role continues to be a part of our success in Tampa, I'd bet on him staying. It'd certainly be best for him and the team.

Is there not a possibility Stansbury can convince him to stay again? If he had his transfer papers in December and was convinced to stay, why could he not be convinced to stay again?

Also, if he's been 100% dead set on transferring and quit showing up to practice for a week, why would he bother returning to practice?

and I don't get the comparison with Williams. We had a couple of transfers here or there with Williams, Brad Smith probably being the most notable, but we in no way had the yearly multiple defections that we now get with Stans. I really like Rick overall but you have to be able to deal with various egotistical personalities in other ways than making them want to leave your program on a regular basis. When even guys that are starters repeatedly feel like they just HAVE to transfer (i.e Ervin, the Delks and Hans) something is not quite right and we will be stuck in mediocrity. It can't ALWAYS be just the players fault.

There is doubfully a soul on here that knows jack squat about what Kodi is going to do. If he leaves, he leaves. It would be great if he stayed to have another big man for next year. If he leaves, Stansbury will go find someone to replace him. Just like he did with Robert Jackson, Walter Sharpe, the Delks, Hansbrough, and Bernard Rimmer. We have always had someone step in and fill the void yet we always run around like chicken little every time someone transfers.
