Just saw that on twitter. Indicated that he was the probable starter at RT. If true, that's a big loss.

and they seem to think he is going to an SEC West rival, who would that be?

OL like ourselves is their biggest concern area so this is not good news at all for them.

I saw where it was Austin Douglas.

A walk-on JUCO center?

ETA: Nevermind...that was an old post from October.

They won't release him to Auburn either, he will have to sit out. I

wouldn't release him.

wouldn't release him.

Remind me how this "releasing" thing works when a player transfers within the conference? Do you just sit one year either way? Does it just mean you have to pay your own way the year you sit out? Something else?

I always thought that the release merely allowed the player to be on scholarship during the year he sat out, but that he had to sit out no matter what.

Well I may be wrong because Hugh made a statement that he may release him due

to it involving family issues, sounds like his two grandfathers are both quite ill. Don't mean to sound cynical but
it seems like the majority of kids wanting to transfer these days have sick relatives. Certainly it has played to the benefit of Ole Miss on a few players lately and this may be one that goes against them.

Freeze says the transfer isn't a done deal, but that he probably wouldn't block him from transferring to another SEC West school since both his grandfathers are sick.

I think if he is released and the NCAA allows the hardship exception that he can

be placed on scholly at Auburn and play next fall.

Because it's bulletproof. Just like proving a prospects father didn't deserve a job somewhere.

For basketball I believe it reduces you from a two year sit out period to one. I think that was the deal with Gary Ervin. Had we not released him, Arkansas would basically not have been an option for him, even if he redshirted one of the years he sat. Not sure football requires you to sit out two years to transfer in conference though.

I do believe a transferring player must sit out....

One year if transferring to a non-SEC school or two years if transferring to a conference program unless the current program agrees to release the player.

Poor guy could've had a NC.. granted he most likely wouldn't have seen the field. Alas, that is the price of salvation.

They have a number of question marks on the OL. Dillon Day has more career starts on the OL than their entire roster.
