STOOPS has done lost our fan base 170 million renovation with no fans in the seats hey mitch way to go another brilliant hire stoops is in over his head no doubt
Yeah, this is a plum of a job. You get a couple of years to turn around decades of failure. Who wouldn't want it?
Actually in a week and a half it will soon be 3 years, and turning it around or not isn't even the sticking point. It's being able to perform basic head coaching duties, like fielding 11 for a punt or allowing a delay of game that cost 5 yards and then missing the FG by... 5 yards. It's hard to turn something around that has ground to a screeching halt and is now sliding down the hill backwards.Yeah, this is a plum of a job. Houston's coach will be heavily considered for USC/Miami, etc. I'm sure the Memphis coach will be for maybe those and VA Tech/Missouri/SC. In other words...NO OP. They are not dumb enough to take a worse job than what they have to come here.
Less talent? according to whom?Because week after week I ask myself how can those two programs, with less "talent" put a team on the field that actually competes.
To be fair when he called a timeout to prevent the delay of game we all said he iced his own kicker. When he didn't call one and took the delay he didn't win their either. It's easy to coach by knowing results. I trust Austin from 37 yds just as much as I do 32. That timeout also allowed us to get the ball back with just alottle time left instead of vandy taking a knee

Without doing a second of research I have no doubt Memphis & Houston have had more guys drafted by the NFL the last 5 years than UK. And probably have multiple seniors who are high on the '16 draft board while UK has zero draftable upperclassmen.
Houston 34--Vandy 0...maybe they don't have less talent than KENTUVKY or Stoops is a worse HC than some tninkFunny you bring those guys up. Because week after week I ask myself how can those two programs, with less "talent" put a team on the field that actually competes.
Two yrs...Mike Leach and no damn excuses or holier than thou BSBe somewhat awkward to bring them in when we have a coach that we'll be saddled with for at least two more years, even if things continue to go sour. Although I suppose the phrase taking the program could be interpreted as staging a pirate-like theft of the coaching job. I'm not opposed to that should they want to give it a try.
In all seriousness, I'm afraid to say that those two could do better than this job. if you're a hot coach at a lower tier school, take that mid-major success and parlay it into a middle (if not upper) level Power 5 conference job. Guys like that don't need programs like ours, they can simply hop right over this stepping stone (or perhaps graveyard) into something shinier.
Stoops isn't going anywhere anytime soon. My problem with Stoops is his lack of game management and bad hires to his staff. I think they need to move away from what Korem is selling in the conditioning room. Boom was gassed with the long run but ran down by a DB.
What if one of them did AND in year three are competing, not getting their heads pounded in, look like they know what the hell they are doing (coaches&players), are bowl eligible at this time ...then what?If one of them did and didn't turn it around in 2 1/2 years then who do we go after?
We have? DeWayne Robertson ain't waking through that door son, and hasn't for 12 years. As a matter of fact UK has lived off of some Memphis talent through the years.

I'm getting this because I am a fan of the University of Kentucky football program, and know we have at most recruited 1 kid from the Memphis area every 5 years or so since the late 1990's. To claim UK 'lived off of' Memphis talent is inaccurate, if never was accurate. Our roster is currently almost exclusively from Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida.I don't know where you're getting this.
Pay Fuentes like you want to win and I think he'd listen. We might have to overpay to get a big name, but if they hear large enough figures and a commitment to winning, they'll listen. Getting them to listen is the first step.
Of course, we've got the money to do it, but we won't. Our Pres/AD/administration doesn't care about winning in football, and half of our fans don't either. Time to hold feet to the fire IMO.
He might listen but he would probably listen a lot more carefully to Miami, Va. Tech, Missouri, and South Carolina, and probably even Maryland and Illinois and Minnesota. It's academic, because there is zero chance that Stoops is getting fired at the end of the year, and very little chance that he is going to be courted by any school that is worth leaving us for. We've recruited some receivers out of Memphis Melrose some years back. I coach in Memphis UK coaches/recruiters have Ben in and out. Memphis isn't half of the draw UK is. Not half. I don't know where you're getting this.
They have a crap, absolute crap football program. Fuentes brought them back from the dead. He will leave, they will go back to 2 star city school.
My point was he would listen. But Barnhart isn't interested in a winning coach, and some of our fans aren't either.

If Houston has a legitimate chance of getting to the B12, Herman might as well just stay there and have a chance to become "the man" at Houston like Bowden at Florida State or Beamer at Va. Tech. If they are willing to pay up, that is.Herman has been rumored heading to SoCar for a week or so, but with Pinkel retiring it creates an interesting situation. Missouri's AD is the former AD at Houston, the same AD that gave Herman his chance and hired him. It might be enough to make him take a look there. But regardless of where he goes, I think he is tOSU bound as soon as Urban has another health issue and retires, may not be long either with Harbaugh at UM, Saban ran him out of the SEC. But I have heard USC is ready to, or may have already offered in excess of 5M per year, haven't heard anything on Fuente so no idea where he could end up. Not sure who will be players at near 6mil a year, Miami won't be, no stadium, poor facilities, and playing in almost empty stadiums. They may struggle staying in D1 with a bad hire, but they can't afford a sure fire hire.

Yeah, Ole Miss has gotten the cream from Memphis for the most part, its very near Memphis, UT gets some because its the state school, I wouldn't be surprised if Missouri and Arkansas don't pick over Memphis talent before anyone this far east gets a kid. We very seldom sign a kid out of Tennessee, usually 1 every 3-4 years if that often.
