The absolute worst announcer ever. Forgets there’s a friggin game going on. U of A is our second school we have always rooted for as my cousins went there in the 80 when Kerr and co played there. (Met him on spring break when I visited.). I watch the games now with the sound off.
He’s hilarious. Much more entertaining than the usually boring PAC 12 game itself with ucla and Arizona being an exception to that statement. I laugh at his antics through most of the game. Wouldn’t want him doing an ncaa tournament game but he’s good on the PAC 12 broadcast.

I'm not complaining about anything we get after the watch party we had for Minnesota game and everyone leaving my house like their dog just died. And I'm thankful for a miraculous come back against PSU or we would be on outside looking in, despite the MI win and decent Purdue showing.

I hope they do the homework like that

Im holding off for a while because Im trying to figure out what im going to do with the big 10 mess at the 8/9. It would be seriously ****ed up if Penn State wins the big 1o tourney and is seeded 10th. I am almost ready to say **** it and pull Illinois down to the 10 and keep Penn State 9

Agree 100000% …especially since PSU owns three against the Illinois

I just don’t understand why MSU hopped us into a bye. Because Marquette won? PSU won and we beat them 2x. Doesn’t seem like there was a reason between 3am and noon to make that change.

Going to Dayton is not punishment. Quite the contrary. Going to Dayton makes the season a success because it fulfills the preseason goal of “back to back to back”.
Hah. Apparently you've never been to Dayton O-Hi-O.

B1G is so weird this year, the two highest rated team have the weakest resumes, but cleanest sheets

MD 3-10, 6-2, 9-12, Q3/4- 3Ws/9Ws(12-0), Q123 12-12
ILL 2-11 7-1, 9-12, Q3/4- 4Ws/7Ws(11-0), Q123 13-12

MSU 5-9, 7-2, 12-11, 1 Q3 loss 4W/3Ws(7-1), Q123 16-12
Iowa 4-7, 9-3, 13-10, 2 Q3 loss, 1W/5Ws(6-3), Q123 14-12, 1 Q4 loss
RU 4-7, 6-3, 10-10, 4 Q3 loss, 2W/7W(9-4), Q123 12-14
NW 7-6 4-5, 11-11, Q3/4- 1W/9Ws(10-0), Q123 12-11
PSU 7-6 5-5, 12-11, 1 Q3 loss 4W/6W(10-1), Q123 16-12

80 Wisc 5-7 6-6, 11-13, 1 Q3 loss 1W/5W(6-1), Q123 12-14

Seeding should be interesting to see what's more important.

Media recalibration per Coach. That whole Pike "phone smashing" thing hints that he was concerned about the team being distracted by erroneous coverage. He is sticking with that tactic. I wouldn't read too much into it.

I met Pike his first season at RU and he talked about his hatred for phones and kids reading about themselves on line…it’s very consistent with his approach

Ok, but that just is part of the overall story. We still have the better win with Purdue on road. Plus a few other Q1 road.
If they get it over us fine. But the update at 2:45am had us higher, then at noon lower. Marquette game was long over by last nights update.

A 1-point win over a non/ Tourny team isn’t enough to erase a terrible quad 3 loss.
Honestly if we looked bad vs Minny and we’re down the whole game and lost I would agree. We played well enough o be up somewhat comfortably the whole game and then everything had to go right for them and wrong for us in the last 1:15. Play the last 1:25 25 more times and we win 24. Not saying it’s not bad but it shouldn’t destroy us like some are saying….

Same. He’s brought this up multiple times over the years at mbb letterwinner days.

Not saying I agree but some posted earlier in thread that it’s counting the notion that Marquette is much higher rank than PSU so they get more credit than us.

Personally I think IF we were ahead of miss st before Marquettes victory last night then Marquette winning one more game is not enough to make miss st suddenly better.

Q1 and Q3/Q4 are important details because more often than not they tell you more about a team than other matchups.

Here’s the thing about us and the second PSU win or the OSU lost. Going into both games, each team wins nearly 50% of the time. So whether you win or lose a close game, it doesn’t really change how that team is viewed.

For teams in our shoes or similar, Q1 games we may win less often, and be expected to lose by more. So a win or close came tells you a fair bit about the team. The same can be said about Q3/Q4. A close win or loss in those games is a bad result when you’re expected to win by more.

There are plenty of examples where we have had greats results and more bad results than many others. Which is why we have been a tough team to gauge the last two years.

When you view us in that lens it’s pretty simple why we are we’re at right now - win over Michigan took us from out to in contention, held sever against Purdue, and bubble went our way.

Memphis taking it to Houston up 17 late in the first half. I know bac doesn't think Houston's anything special but still...Memphis could be an interesting 8 seed that was on the bubble and then peaked late a la UNC last year.

Cougars are playing without Sasser, arguably their best player, who hurt his groin yesterday.

I know Sasser is out but giving up 46 pts in a half. Wow.

People keep mentioning Minnesota, it's a bad loss but RU would be in worse shape if they didn't beat PSU and won at Minnesota headed into the B1G tournament with a loss to NW. Beating Michigan was a must have but so was playing very well vs Purdue.

If PSU moves beyond a 10 seed towards a high 9 seed, then RU should be moving further away from last 4 in the field. I don't think PSU moves past a 10 seed, but I can't argue against PSU, in comparison to the other 10 seeds. The 10 seeds and 11s that are not going to Dayton, are all interchangeable IMO.

So would committee if no report comes out he’d play games in NCAA tourney refrain from giving them a 1 seed (suggesting they’re not a 1 without their top player)?

It's prob too late but it's hard not to look at what Texas has done and think about flipping them

It’s funny going back on this board the past few weeks. Posters claiming we aren’t the same team without Mag. losing Mag is the reason we’re struggling. Now a bracketologist basically says this….and everyone is up in arms. Lol.
Pike made a lineup change with Derek and it energized the team. Did you not watch the last 2 games. Plus some of the bracketologists dinged us too much from a 5/6 seed on February 4 to slide us down to 11 seed which was too harsh and unjustified.

We have 4 quad 3-4 losses. I think quad 3 and 4 losses are what he’s considering “bad losses”.

No team on the bubble or in the field has 4. That is likely going to hurt us.
We have no Quad 4 losses. I already explained in my prior posts that Seton Hall , Nebraska and Temple are not “ bad losses “. Although they are classified as Quad 3 , which is showing how arbitrary it is with Seton Hall and Wisconsin and Michigan drifting from Quad 2 to 3

Our bus driver, Andy K, has us as an 11 and no Dayton. He’s the driver, must know where the bus is headed.
