Back from the game a bit ago, but I'm just getting around to posting my views

1) Hats off to the Central MS Alumni club...the food was solid with lines never being longer than a few minutes for food. The free beer flowed from 5:30 until around the end of the 5th inning (7:30ish). More than I could've asked for.

2) What does Sam Frost bring to our team? His fielding % is .958 which is quite poor (not to mention a few other people's) and his batting continues to be atrocious, .204.

3) Conner Powers is the only legitimate offensive weapon on our team. I can not imagine how poor our team would be without him. I appreciate him coming back, and so does Cohen.

4) Our entire team, sans Powers, are giant pussies at the plate if it's past the 7th inning and there is more than 1 strike on them. Seriously, we're scared for some reason, and at this point I refuse to believe Cohen is "pushing them too hard." They may just be too young or too inept to perform.

5) Regardless of the performance of the Dogs, I had a good time. Hope everyone I spoke to out there did as well.

His error really hurt. I think our best defensive lineup is now this:

C- Freeman/Thigpen
1B- Conner Powers
2B- Jet Butler- he played really well tonight at the plate and in the field.
3B- Vickerson
SS- Ogden
RF- Adkins
CF- Jaron
LF- Ryan Collins
DH- Sneed

Also on point number four- when you are down late in a game you want to take at least one strike to try to get ahead in the count if you can. You want to try to make the relievers work. That might explain some of the passiveness late.

In games where we're clearly overmatched talent-wise (including tonight), Powers seems to be the sole contributor to our offense. It's more than a little frustrating.

You should almost never take good pitches to hit. If you're down and taking a strike and the pitcher is throwing strikes, all you're doing is making his job that much easier. Statistics show that most often the best pitch you'll ever get to hit is the first pitch of the at bat. If that's a strike (and hittable) you need toswing the damnbat.

I'd like to see Bole get some bats. I also would try Freeman at 3rd move Vickerson back to 2nd.

You got think this team will start scoring some runs with men on base, but then again I remember who's coming to the plate and it ain't but a few SEC caliber players.

Frost want be in the lineup much longer, I think he is intimidated to say the least.

Juco's have been a major disappointment. Ogden was way over-rated by Cohen, Shephard was drafted for his defense, Johnson has been a bust, Vickerson has been decent.

He said that being a closer is easier than being a starter. He said one of the reasons is because you know that you're coming in with the lead and that the hitters are going to take at least one strike.

I thought that was kind of ironic given his control issues. Which is also a reason why people would take pitches from him as well.

I'll say this as well- if you are in that situation and you do swing at a pitch you before you get a strike on you, you better nail it.
