Bad news for Dixon - sort of

Looking like he won't get cut, which I think is a bad thing for him. He'd be much better landing in San Diego or Miami or somewhere like that.

Contrary to previous speculation, 49ers GM Trent Baalke and OC Greg Roman suggest RB Anthony Dixon has played his way onto the final roster.

"I think we can look to 'Dix' to have his most productive season as a Niner," Roman said Tuesday morning. Baalke praised Dixon for a "tremendous offseason," valuable special teams play and a newfound versatility as a halfback/fullback hybrid on offense. Dixon's rise is bad news for Rock Cartwright, who may be the odd man out.

My point it that it had been speculated he's be picked up quickly on waivers - he's buried on SF's depth chart and would have a much better opportunity to earn legit playing time in other cities (San Diego, Miami, Philly, NYJ immediately come to mind)

you don't think he's at least as good as shonn greene in new york or could beat out what appears to be a washed up ronnie brown in SD for the #2 job? I'm not saying he's an All-Pro waiting to happen but I think he could be a #2 someplace and get some run vs. being #4 or #5 in SF
