I looked up the bag policy for the stadium but it was vague with regard to whether u can bring in water and how many. Please advise because I'm concerned with the pending heat for sunday and the cluster that is RU concessions. Plus im not paying 4-5$ for a water i can get from BJs for 11 cents. Appreciate feedback

Clear bag that meets Homeland Security Regulations. AFAIK, no outside water is allowed. I usually wear cargo type shorts or a loose fitting shirt and and tuck a couple of extra waters in my waistband. Never had a problem.

Funny thing, we sit in the club, and there are loads of free sweetened drinks available, but no freaking water. I drink water and no sweetened drinks. I do what I have to do.

There may be an exception on water policy if you have a medical reason. One time after my kidney surgery, I showed my water and my scar and the guy waved me through, probably because he was disgusted by my scar. šŸ˜‚

Form SK.com - Due to Homeland Security guidelines, no outside food and beverage will be permitted into the stadium. An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the Guest Services gates designated for this purpose. SHI Stadium regulations prohibit outside food and beverages, bottles, cans, alcoholic beverages, coolers, umbrellas, noisemaking devices, balloons, laser pointers, pets (with the exception of service animals), balls, weapons, sticks/poles, containers, fireworks, and any other items deemed dangerous or inappropriate from being brought into the facility.

In other words, you were able to "hold your water"

Homeland security is such weak horeshit excuse when Metlife allows outside water in a clear bag. Such nonsense.
Agreed. I would have more respect if they just admitted to sustain their revenue goals they will not allow outside food and beverages.

The policy is such garbage. Making it worse, a few years ago at a very hot game they ran out of water in the upper deck in the second quarter. If you can’t bring it in, they need to make sure they have sufficient supply.

I'm having flashbacks to The Great Seat Cushion Caper.
Talk about actions that fly in direct opposition to the stated rules. Good thing that was cleared up quickly.

I had a green apple confiscated a few years ago. When I asked why, the security guard said I might smoke marijuana out of it.

Can't make this stuff up...

Ever get cold cocked by someone swinging a hard boiled egg in a newspaper sleeve? Lethal weapon.
Yes, and I once saw a person smoking weed out of green apple, using a newspaper sleeve as a bong. These security people know what they are doing. They know all the angles.

the stadium has water fountains . I assume they all work and have to meet some type of code. Anyone ever drink from them or fill up bottles?
I never have

Agree, but this is what happens when you’re on the hook for $20M to your overpaid head coach. I think I read somewhere that this year the restrooms will cost $3 per entry and another $2 for hand soap and a paper towel like at many nightclubs.

We had to throw our four away during that caper. Got into a heated argument pointing to the Merchandise shop inside the stadium where I bought them and they were on display. Then pointed to the prohibited items signage they have and asked the attendant and officer to please point out where it says no seat cushions. It was like talking to two morons with a combined IQ of 5.

I have figured out how to smuggle in a bottle or 2 every game. Especially important for the first game of the year because on the upper concourse not all of the concession stands are open, and as pointed out earlier in this thread, the upper concourse has been known to run out of water at the first game. The whole thing is pathetic.

You gotta give us more details on how all this went down. You buy seat cushions inside the stadium at a game. you return with them at another game, and security says you cannot bring them in? LOL. You must have been like WTF. I would have been furious. please give us the full story. This may go down as one of the stupidest RU screws ever. details, details, details.

I was not the only one, the garbage cans were mountains of seat cushions. I was pretty livid and boisterous to the head whatever she was and police officer. Then I heard a voice yelling and the yelling sounded quite familiar, almost like I've heard this particular voice before, "if you get arrested, I'm not bailing you out!". I turn around and sure enough it's my wife. Apparently, our gate was the only gate that fvcked this one up big time.

'Tis true. First game of the season, several years back. I tried entering with my stadium seat like I'd done for years prior, only to be turned away by security. Pissed as hell about the prospect of hiking back to the UMDNJ Game Day Lot so close to kickoff, I tried another gate and was granted entrance with no problem.

You can’t bring in a water or ham sandwich but no one checks for guns knives bombs…
Actually, it must be at least 5 years ago, they had troopers at the gates and he asked me to empty my pockets. I forgot I had a two inch pocket knife on my key chain and he told me I had to put it back in my car. I said okay and then just went to a different gate.

Now all they check is the bags for water and food.

You can have a gun or knife concealed or have a bomb strapped around you and right in you go but no ham sandwiches.

I got my own ā€œstupid game day random policy changeā€ story. This goes back actually not too many years back.
So when one of my tailgate buddies and me would park at the RAC the bus would drop us off at the bubble. Well for a long time we would hike back from the bubble via the service road that the busses travel down, past the yurcak restrooms to our tailgate in the blue lot. We had been doing this at every home game for a decade or more. anyhow maybe three years back, all of a sudden the police wouldn’t allow us to use this route anymore. I tried to explain to the police that we had been using this exact route for over a decade, which fell on deaf ears. Talked to his sergeant, same this is the way it is. So a few games we and a few hundred others would have to go down the path towards the stadium, go around to the road that the food trucks are on now, to the blue lot. What a PIA! I took my rant to this board and I think it was Mrs. Screw who said I should reach out to Rutgers. She even provided the names and emails of whom I should contact. So I did. After I explained my issue via email to this person they got back to me within hours and told me that there was no policy change and that some yahoo LEO made up this rule on the fly. The very next home game we took our old path to the blue lot. Two morals to this story, this board actually does accomplish things and all’s well that ends well.
