Rich King, Dapreis Owens, Venson Hamilton, Derrick Chandler, Mikki Moore, Kimani Ffriend. Am I missing any?
El Grande Andre would be a welcome addition at this point. For defense/rebounding/toughness give me Terrance Badgett, who is the most underrated Husker of all time (imho)

Danny Nee had 4 straight NCAA tournament appearances after his fourth year. Hopefully Miles goes on a similar run....but, he may need to do work on the recruiting trail the next few months to get us out of the bottom of the Big Ten.
Yep, unfortunately that was 30 years ago, and we pretty much stunk before him and we've definitely stunk since he was fired. It helps that he had more in state talent than 4 year period since, but he got NBA talent to Lincoln, which no coach has since come close to replicating. He was definitely an outlier in the area of Husker BB recruiting.

The frustrating thing is that basketball CAN be a quick-turnaround sport, but only Nee has been able to actually do it here.

It's put up time, honestly. Have good outside skill players but without a big man(men) they won't get deep into any post season.
Devils advocate here, but didn't Golden State show they could win a championship and set a record for regular season wins without a big?

I'm not saying it's easy as obviously these guys practice shooting for hours a day that a college student probably cannot but there is a roadmap for turning a team with a big into a liability.

Golden State has the best shooter in the history of basketball. If we had that, we'd probably be fine without a big. Heck, he single-handedly took Davidson to the Elite 8.

The point is, if we had 3-4 NBA-caliber guards, we could probably compete in the Big Ten without a big. But most Big Ten teams have better guards than us, and they have good post players too.

Our guards aren't stephen curry as a junior... that's hardly saying they are terrible. we're young... you don't just throw a switch with 99% of basketball talent. everyone isn't lebron... or curry for that matter.

and when people point out guard play wins in the ncaa tournament, they also add the "experienced" to the description. junior and senior guards win in the ncaa tournament.

in case you didn't notice, watson was a freshman. 8.6 ppg in 24 minutes as a freshman is EXTREMELY solid. so was mcveigh. and that was 2/3 of our backcourt that had higher end ncaa tournament talent (webster being the other and he is proof positive on how much people improve in 2 years). this isn't to say that any of our players are going to be stephen curry -- they won't be -- but jeez, give them some bloody time.

when mcveigh and watson are seniors this backcourt will be very, very good. roby in the 3 will seriously help as well. throw in jacobsen's improvement (if it happens and i feel that it will) and i'll say it -- that's a team that can make a sweet 16 run. in 2 years. even without a big.

obviously though, our backcourt will just happen to be darn near infinitely more lethal if we have some guys who can crash the boards. but at least compare apples to apples with comparisons -- the curry one is ridiculous on so many levels.

It's not like their bigs are getting zero minutes. Bogut seems to get the most minutes around 20 minutes a game. They are winning with a "bigs by committee" approach. I would guess he will get more assuming they play the Spurs. If they didn't need bigs, why did they add Verejao?
