Baker Swedenburg named Ray Guy finalist so...congratulations?

So we don't bench the kicker who is 2 of 8 on kicks longer than 29 yards but we bench our punter who is a Ray Guy Award finalist. Makes perfect sense.
It is so Mississippi State of us to bench a player who is a finalist for a national award. Makes things pretty awkward for Dan, benching one of the best punters in the nation for no reason.
Are we sure about this? The website says finalists aren't named until 11/25 and semi finalists are named 11/8.
So what was Mullen's point with this quote in his presser...

I would certainly admit my punter was dealing with a minor injury in the game before I made it appear my Ray Guy Finalist lost the job in practice.
Because it's Mullen. How many years are we going to listen to him use practice as a reason for whatever questions are thrown at him before we realize you can't take those comments at face value?
Anyway, look at the game: other than the friggin' drop, Bell was obviously kicking better. Baker has been nothing if not consistent, he didn't get the start, we tried him once and the punt was poor (for Baker), we only went back to him after the safety and his next punt was even worse, so we had to go back to Bell again. It's easy to put two and two together to see something was wrong with the man.
