TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Ken Stabler won't return as the football color analyst for Alabama radio broadcasts.</p>

The former Crimson Tide and NFL quarterback had been on leave from his duties since his arrest on a drunken-driving charge last June. He was found not guilty by a judge in Robertsdale, Ala.</p>

Crimson Tide Sports Network general manager Jim Carabin and Alabama athletic director Mal Moore announced the decision Thursday.</p>

In a statement released by the university, Stabler said: "I will continue to support UA in any way possible and wish only the best to the entire Alabama family."</p>

No permanent replacement has been named. Former Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage is handling color duties for Saturday's spring game.</p>

Ole Miss should pay attention... When you become a liability, it's time to go!

Of course, AK is quite safe...

but Stabler was found NOT GUILTY. That doesn't exactly make what Bama did the "right way."

You didn't exactly see everyone wanting to keep him around.

Most of the time when they fail to convict a drunk driver, it has something to do with a procedural error on the part of the police. This wasn't Stabler's first run-in with drunk-driving. Getting drunk and putting yourself in 'control' of a 4,000 pound missile is irresponsible behavior.

Then again, maybe my sarcasm meter isn't working.

to compare OJ to Kenny Stabler. Last I checked the snake didn't decapitate his ex-wife and her lover...

I dont know that the snake didnt enter rehab and keep his nose clean so to speak. Its understandable if Bama fired him, but its also understandable if they kept him especially after being found not guilty...

but it just illustrates that because someone is found not guilty, it doesn't mean they didn't do the underlying crime nor are there repercussions outside the courtroom. It was Stabler's third DUI arrest, so a pattern of bad behavior was there.

best color guy in the SEC (doesn't hurt he was my fave NFL QB growing up, but he's still funny as hell). Damn that sux. Acutally got to meet him as he was walking around D-W before the 07 game. Was very friendly (as you'd expect him to be from his broadcasts) to me, my boy, & my nephew. Again, damn that sux. Got to catch a plane back to Alabama tomorrow with a UA colleague & will make sure to give him some shat over the Snake dismissal.</p>
