If we go 11-1 and he's a big reason why (some kind of TD against LSU or Alabama), I would expect him to be in the conversation.

Woodson is a bad comparison

I was a pretty big Michigan fan until I attended MSU and my father even won a National Championship playing hockey there but I to this day do not understand why Woodson won that Heisman.... I also seem to remember that he scored more than 1 TD, the most popular was the one where he struck a Heisman pose against the Ohio State Pussies and then put the rose in his teeth.

I think Banks is worthy of being an All-american as well as a finalist for the Jim Thorpe award and deserves conversation to being a finalist in the Chuck Bednarik award as well. But in my opinion Heisman is way above his head.

Of the awards that I mentioned he should be a finalist I think to this point he should be top 2 for the Jim Thorpe award but right now lacks some highlight reel footage to be the overall winner. I think the Bednarik award is a slight stretch at this moment also. But there are many games left where he can easily impact his chances at these awards.

A few thoughts...

Career numbers:

Woodson - 47 punt returns, 407 yards, 8.7 yard average, 1TD

1) While the Woodson / Banks stats prove Banks is a bad ***, it doesn't really support or hurt him in a Heisman discussion. You just need to tear it up in the current season to be part of the conversation.

2) One defensive winner in the history of the award. Not a good thing for Banks.

3) We would definitely have to play in and win the SECCG and Banks would have to have score TDs in it to have a remote shot. He's handicapped way too much by being a defender and playing at a lower profile school.

4) Banks has a great shot at being an All-American. That will be huge for him and MSU.

Great call. Banks should at least be in the Heisman discussion. If he can keep pace and pick 6 against a Bama, he'll get talked about.

And yet, we continue to run the soft zone...

Again, just hoping that was because of our competition.
