You guys really need to get over yourselves. The facts are no.matter who the coach is we do not have the talent to play a full B1G schedule yet especially with all the losses from last year. 3 OL & QB & arguably the best B1G WR on offense. The whole Secondary, 2 best DL HURT....sorry but we do not have the talent to replace those losses

Now stop your whining, complaining and STFU. Try supporting Rutgers. Stop thinking your BIGGER than Rutgers you are just football fans and nothing more. Get over yourselves already

No, before we lost some games this year, we were like brothers in arms against Keith Sargent for writing about what Flood did. Now it's being used by all the same people to pile on. Give me a break. You want a real boy scout in here all of a sudden? I'm encouraged to have a guy who isn't afraid to cheat a little bit. You wont tolerate cheating, then you are the one who accepts mediocrity. Get your story straight then come at me.

I for one do not oppose cheating. I oppose bad fundamental football though

The admins are always positive. It's probably the company line to be positive no matter what. This year has sucked so bad thanks god we are in the BIG one day we will get the full share and can spend real money.

No, before we lost some games this year, we were like brothers in arms against Keith Sargent for writing about what Flood did.

And then the actual report came out. And there were the undertones that Flood wrote Barnwell's paper. Forgot that one in my first post.

I could pull up the specific threads I went from defending Flood to apologizing to @RU5781 the very next day.

Every day that Barchi or Hermann don't give Flood a vote of confidence is another day that they haven't decided to keep him. If they decide to keep him, they would quickly give a vote of confidence to kill rumors that he is on the hot seat. If they've already decided to fire him, or if they haven't made a decision, they won't say anything before Saturday's game.

Silencer may be trolling, but silence is golden.
I agree with you. If they have agreed to keep Flood like RUsilencer's sources say they would have voiced a vote of confidence by now. Instead all we get is Flood saying the people who know me support me and not a word from the administration. You don't let a coach's fate hang in the wind with rumors swirling. It hurts your coach in the life blood of the program, recruiting. No administration would stay silent if they definitely knew they were retaining their coach.

OP is hedging his bets from his proclamation several weeks ago that he is in the know and Flood is gone. Since there have been no leaks or media rumors, OP is now changing his tune to ensure he does not lose board cred - as if most of us really care about that in the first place. Let's not forget the classic recent 3rd person thread by the OP.

I respect anyone who is for a change on account of the on-field product. I would support a change. But if he's coming back, he's coming back. I'm not going to cry and stop going to RU games. I've been going to games through much worse times than this because I actually like it. But we all want a winning team first and foremost.

Like I said, I respect that. But don't give me the August Keith Sargent piece as a reason to fire him. If you really want to fire a coach for such a minor infraction, you'll never beat Urban Meyer or James Franklin or Greg Schiano for that matter.

Why don't we have the talent to replace all those? Oh that's right because the coaching staff has not been recruiting on a B1G level (see no top 10 NJ recruits how many years running now?). So yea we ran in to depth issues but they were created by the same staff who can't coach their way out of a box

If you think that Keith's piece or anything like that is the reason to fire Elmer Fudd, you're more naive than I thought. Did it ever occur to you that the reason for getting rid of Fudd is because he's such a lousy coach and the "investigation" is being used to seal the deal?

Let's be honest there is no reason to keep Flood at this point unless we don't have the money. I have no inside info but I do negotiate for a living. If Julie doesn't have the booster money yet this is precisely the type of information that you put out there now to get the big money donors to dig deeper. You don't wait until the weekend.

Have you renewed them or attended any games since then? Or watched the games on TV?
I attended 2 games in '06 - Louisville and Syracuse. I thought about getting season tickets again in the late aughts, but the only parking available was at the RAC and I remembered the very long line to get a return bus to the RAC after Louisville '06 and decided it wasn't worth it. I have this board to thank for being at the Pandemonium game. That was the season I began to upload videos to YouTube. Many people were grateful and when the board found out that I wasn't going to be attending the big game, a kind soul offered me an extra. I even met John O. before the game.

Another person who was grateful in 2006 was Jason Baum. He wanted to put together a highlight reel of my YouTube videos so I sent him a disk of the videos. He offered tickets in return. That's how I was able to see Brian Leonard wield the sword after the Syracuse game.

I have watched most games on TV since 2000.

You mean being used as a pretext. Yes, I understand that. That's what I do not respect. I don't need a list of incredibly minor transgressions which includes his helping a player with his homework as a part of the discussion. It's an insult to our intelligence. Anyway, we should all be much more open minded towards cheating, since it's the only way any program achieves or maintains success in football. If we've got to fire flood because of a ****** product, then fire him because of a ****** product.

I think he's gone. He's completely lost way too much of the fan base. He's embarrassed the school with the ridiculous Barnwell grades story. He either didn't know about or didn't prepare for his entire secondary going to jail. The whole handling of the QB situation this year has been a joke. And worst of all, the team gets blown out against every decent team they play in conference. Rutgers messes up a lot of decisions but I don't think theres any way they can possibly justify keeping him.

None of you know what is going to happen. In the past few days, pretty much every possible scenario has been suggested based on "sources", so someone will be right just by chance.

I'll check in after the Maryland game to see what happens. I expect, unfortunately, that Flood will be here for another year.

The info might not stay correct, but this information, as of now, is correct. Live with it. You are either a Rutgers supporter or a front runner. Most of us agreed Flood was a guy you could get behind a few precious months ago. What changed? We were a couple bounces here or there from having 6 wins right now, two against top 20 teams. Last year, we were a couple bounces away from looking more like we do this year. Yea, we lost our starting secondary to off the field issues. We lost Flood for 3 games. We lost Carroo for a bunch. Hamilton was never quite healthy

This was a very tough year. We had no qb. There is a reason Rettig did not play. Maybe a change at HC would be an upgrade, maybe not. But this is what we've got. He's got a very nice class coming in. We do this for fun and to have an excuse to visit campus and see our friends. Rutgers fans say they deserve better, but they don't. They are, for the most part, fair weather fans, except for the 10-15k who will be in the stadium not booing the coach on fking senior day. That group deserves better. The rest of you deserve a crappy return.

You weren't motivated to start buying season tix after the 2006 season? In any event, once you left, you didn't return to games, but still follow the team on TV. Which is probably not exactly an unusual case.

Still, if the team is winning, tickets will sell. If the team is losing, tickets won't sell. There are enough people in and around NJ that generating new fans is unlikely to be a problem at whatever point the team starts winning regularly.

Unless the team drops out of the Big Ten.

Well, if this is so, my excitement for the start of a season will end earlier then when we opened the season with a 3 and out against Buffalo back in the day. Of course, people change and Coach Flood could have a post-season epiphany, nah, it would have to be a Vulcan mind meld with Urban.

I've been reading this board for over a decade. I'm still amazed by how many believe when a guy with 350 posts comes on board and says the coach is getting canned with three weeks to go on the season and then get upset when the same guy says it's not happening 2 weeks later. Pretty funny.

THIS is a guy with phenomenonal connections, btw.

Once this team gets a real coaching staff again, I'd suggest parking on College Avenue behind the Barn or Au Bon Pain if you'd consider going to some games again. It's currently the same $20 price per game as the RAC, a quick 15 minute bus ride or 25 minute walk from the stadium, and easy enough to avoid most post-game traffic (especially heading south).

The winds have taken a dramatic shift. Multiple good sources have all collaborated that Barchi has or will blink again and will not be making any changes. Flood will return next year and probably be back in 2017 even if he goes 1-10. Barchi does not want to make the spend nor does he have the stomach to potentially expose his athletic department over this report. Of course this could be wrong and Barchi could decide to grow a pair and actually pull the string but all indications are that he will not. He will instead kick the can down the road.

If true, this is a dramatic shift which will cement that Barchi and the RU administration can care less about anything more than mediocrity. In my view, it sends a horrible message to donors and season ticket holders that you may as well wait for a new President and the BIG money to come in. Until then, it's ok if we suck so long as we get to "revenue neutral"

I would also expect no changes to the staff after hearing this. We all get another year of the wonderful defensive prowess of the likes of Rossi. A sad day for all who strive to actually see RU win.
This is the worst sports news I've ever heard if true. You think recruiting is bad now, oh lord it's gonna get terrible if we keep Flood

Disagree. Flood has lost most of the Rutgers fanbase and that isn't going to change with a win vs. Maryland and anything less than a conference-winning season next year. But getting a real Defensive Coordinator and perhaps another offensive guru (iffy on this, because Flood is clearly attached at the hip to Laviano and don't see that changing) would certainly help the team be more competitive. I'd prefer to see some competitive play with chances beat good teams as well as bad ones (think last season with the Fridge/nova helping us go 8-5), rather than the near-unwatchable product put forth this season. IMO It would make the difference between minor-to-moderate apathy and full-on abandonment of games next season if Flood stays.

Kyle is a sink cost. No reason to throw good money after bad to marginally improve a bad product. No decent coach would want to come here and work for this guy....just someone looking for a payday and to play out the string ala Fridge.

You have no idea how many times a report can be sanitized from an internal investigation before it's released. The report in September was edited for 3 weeks before it was released. Many, many things were taken out from the original
How about when it's not an internal investigation? You know, like when Rutgers hires outside counsel to conduct it.
Clearly you or your sources are making stuff up as you go.

I agree that Flood is a permanent sunk cost at this point and want him fired ASAP as much as anyone. Unfortunately, I'm talking about a worst-case scenario where he is retained for next season, and drawing the line between potentially coming back to watch some games or finding a new fall hobby for now. If the former takes the school spending some good money toward bad, then so be it.

Yes it is true that there are ways to scrub however, and I am not saying there have been, but the one thing that they can't scrub and must publicly declare are NCAA violations or possible NCAA violations.

You don't understand how it works. When attorneys are hired to investigate something, the reports are sent to the client in draft form and are subject to client comments and edits. The attorneys won't lie in their report, but they will absolutely change the content and narrative to fit what the client is looking for. No one would pay lawyers to write a report they had no control over. Whether it is inside or outside counsel, Rutgers is the one paying for this report, so they will have full say in the finished product. The report will not go into "final" form without the school signing off on it. It is always done like this. The client is the customer, nd the lawyers will make sure the customer is happy.

I agree. What's to say our Appropraitions are cut to a point where you have to reallocate Athletic department budget to the general fund, forcing B10 money to fill in the gaps. This would be very very disappointing. What a mess. Welcome to the wonderful state of NJ.
