Is our best most consistent player. Especially in SEC play. He knocks down shots, single handidly bought us back in the Vandy game, is an EXCELLENT defender, plays the hardest with the exception of maybe Phil, and he's the smartest player we have. People bash him sometimes, but playing him a ton of minutes is the only smart thing Stansbury has done this year. We're really going to miss him next year.

The other team will get caught napping and he will run up and pick their pocket without them knowing wtf happened.

It is a shame that it is going unnoticed because the status quo is to bash him.

He has played outstanding defense all year long. He has been very solid offensively of late. He's having a really good senior season and we need to let him know that we appreciate him on Senior Day.

My biggest complaint about him is his apparent lack of vocal leadership. We tend to go through those 2 to 3 minute slumps at least once every game. Senior leadership is the best way to get out of an in-game (or multiple game) slump. He needs to get out of his comfort zone and start firing some people up. As it stands, it appears Phil Turner is the only guy on the team willing to do that. Barry is experienced, he needs to coach the younger guys during the games. He's wasting valuable experience by just taking care of his own business.

But, to his credit, he's playing very well as of late and his defense is phenomenal.

Nobody had heard of him out of high school and he showed that same calm and reserve as a freshman that we all appreciate him for now. But when he didnt improve in visible categories like we had expected(FG %, 3PT%, FT%) during his sophomore season to go along Jack starting the Barry/Randy deal, he was taken for granted. He missed several shots at the end of the game that would have really vaulted his standings in our minds(Tim Bower).

Later in his Jr season and now this season we realize that Barry is what he is. He doesnt care to do the little unseen things to win, he will not get out worked, and he doesnt get rattled.

which is more important than offense in my opinion. Barry has also been asked to do a lot of things while he has been at MSU because of his ability. Some of the things he has been asked to do were out of necessity and not because it was his natural fit (i.e. back-up point guard, guarding Alonzo Gee). Barry is a solid player and if he would have played on the 96 team, we would probably be as fond of him as we were of Darryl Wilson. It's funny that Darryl is one of our all time favorites because of the success we had while he was at MSU, but since that time we have had many guards that were much better, just not on as successful of teams.

that had Barry's defensive skills and basketball IQ, Phil's fired-up attitude, and Ravern's shooting ability he would all-world. I guess specialists are good too though.

Just sayin.I don't care to hearthe "if" jokes.</p>

1. Isn't that what you expect out of your seniors?
2. I don't mean this as a backhanded complement even though that's how it will come out, but the fact that Barry is our best, most consistent player is a big reason as to why we're having such a tough year.

I don't know if a thread has been posted on Kodi but dear God he needs to just rebound. He has to be like 4 for 50 lately from the field. If I scouted MSU I would let Kodi shoot open shots every time. Kodi is a fantastic rebounder but cannot make outside shots with any sort of consistency.

Stewart is best when he plays within his limits.

He had a brutal Junior season on the offensive end, mostly in the first few months of the season because he was trying to do things that are outside of his limits. Jamont was no longer on the team and we didnt have someone who could drive the lane and get a foul or finish. Stewart took over that role and never succeeded because its beyond his abilities. He stopped doing that as often and stuck to what works and was better for it.

This season he hasnt driven in nearly as often, which has helped his game and the team. He has an excellent midrange shot that he uses at times on drives, id guess thats a higher %make than getting to the rim for him.

His outside shooting has carried us a lot this season, and he isnt shooting them from 7' beyond the arc like so often last season.

Stewart's motor is like the Energizer Bunny. Never stops and that makes him a pest on defense. Constantly fighting thru screens wears on someone, but he works to not let it affect his overall game.

I do wish he could hit FTs consistently. A few years ago, he was the guy we used for Technical FTs. Now he hits ony 2/3 of his FTs.
Its nuts that he averaged 25mpg as a freshman. That says a lot about both his abilities as a player and the team's need for consistent players.

He came in as a freshman and played well for a freshman....since then , he has not gotten any better on the offensive end. And comparing his basketball IQ to other current team members isn't saying much.
