"I must touch on a couple of negatives related to our offensive scheme and our bench. The definition of insanity (as we all have heard) is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. Welcome to "15 Seconds with the Bulldawgs on the offensive end." We are predictable, we shoot it too quickly, we don't screen anyone, and I don't feel we put our athletes in positions where they can utilize their skills" Bart on BDJ

"Throughout the course of games, just take a listen to the commentary by knowledgeable basketball guys regarding our offense. It's bad. We haven't gotten a good look down the stretch yet, and we have been in so many games late. We continuously here about how we don't have a bench to change the flow of the game, and that our young players (after 25 games mind you) just "don't understand yet of what is going on." In addition, our lack of depth causes our guys to play too many minutes so we have to be careful. Who is responsible for making changes on a basketball team when they are needed?

I'll just say this, there is one common denominator that can fix those problems and it is time to stop making excuses. The Final Four team in '96 had an eight man rotation and had some of same issues this team is having (we did have three first round picks which helped). We lost four of five and were sitting in just about the same position as this team. Coach Willams made adjustments and we turned things around. You can have all the talent in the world, but it has to be molded together. That's what this team is missing. We are too individualistic and we don't put our guys in positions to score other than firing 30 footers. Thats not offense.

Also, we have to substitute better to get guys rest if our bench is truly that weak. Whether it is stealing some rest for Dee by playing Barry at the point, or teaching our guys to run the great sets we have in the past to take time off the clock (not only to get baskets, but also to make the other team guard), something must be done to change the direction this team is headed offensively. It is the job of the head coach and his staff to make these adjustments. You can't win down the stretch if you can't get a good look. That's simply fact. Yes, people have figured us out. I think it is time we accept it. Go Dawgs! "

I think everyone is in agreement that Stansbury has done a bad job this year. He has a chance to turn it around tonight so I guess we will see. I am not quite ready to call the season a total failure when we still have a minimum of 9 games left to play.

Thank God. Did anyone watch Duke and NC last night. How many times did you see their point guard pass the half court line and stop. How many times did they have no one to pass to, because no one was moving? Zero. Yeah, there was bad shooting down one stretch, but I can handle that when you are actually running stuff. We are yet to do that, so I won't hear the poor shooting excuse. And these guys see it too. I hope Stansbury read that stuff.

because you are RARELY going to shoot well when you get into the habit of taking horrible shots. Taking rushed shots, guarded 3 point shots or even "open" 3 point shots when they are 6 to 8 feet behind the line will never get you a high FG %. And that is what's been going on lately. I've been amazed in the last few weeks at the number of contested shots we take versus the number of uncontested shots we give up (and that includes even the 2 pointers). I just think the SEC teams understand that they have to guard us at the 3 point line and do it, whereas some of the teams we played earlier didn't seem to really focus on that and let us shoot at will. The only guy we have that can hit a contestd three point shot, at least when he's on, is Ravern. The rest of the team pretty much need to be open to hit them.

they stand still outside the 3 pt line. I have yet to see a backscreen away from the ball or a back door cut. That's **** we did in HS.

You don't think there are any sheep.

I am starting to think you have a sheep fixation. Don't confuse not being a relentless bitcher and complainerwith being a sheep. I have said for a while now that we are playing like **** and Stansbury has done a poor job so far. If not giving up on the team just yet makes me a sheep then so be it. I will probablygive up on them after a loss tonight though.

This sounds like somethings a few of us have been preaching forthe last several years. But... Stansalways wins the West and you don't know what you are talking about. The truth hurts... Stans can't coach on the offensive side of the ball.

Really Bart? You think that helped? So much so that it garners barely a mention enclosed in parenthesis?

I believe he was the last pick of the first round. Maybe first pick of the second round, though. Or maybe I'm completely off base.

He was definitely drafted though.

is totally stupid! Different teams, different everything. That team had a lot of everything that this team does not.
You had a point guard, an inside guy that you could count on, a great shooting guard, and a truly tallented JC transfer.
Two 17n first round draft choices...

********!

...and it won't undo the crapfest that this season has been thus far. That's the problem with so many of the Stans lovers around here...State wins a couple of games and all of the sudden he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Bart Hyche is right on target. I've had conversations with other former players who say virtually the same thing.
