Since I didn't know the question about APR and the baseball team, and had questions myself, I e-mailed Bracky Brett, and he e-mailed me back! It made my avid reader day.

Todd,
Thanks for your inquiry. Players leaving early do effect any teams APR. You should know that as long as they leave eligible no institution will receive a contemporaneaous penalty of loss of scholarship. The "0 for 2s" (kids that leave academically ineligible) are the ones that cost you.
Baseball's academic success has helped in this area. There are also APR waivers available if a kid leaves and makes a pro roster. Another waiver is available if the kid with a gpa of 2.6 or higher leaves and immediately enrolls at another 4 year school.

To answer your question, anytime you have kids leave you have concerns about APR. Given the reasons baseball kids leave and the academic success of our players, the waivers available make our situation much better.

I think this reinforces what a couple of other people have said. If I'm reading this right, as long as the players are academically eligible when they leave, then we won't be penalized. In other words, if John Cohen decides to cut a player or a player decides to leave for whatever reason, as long as that player is academically eligible, then we will not be penalized.

Wouldn't shock me at all if the SEC had a problem with one of us finding new ways to improve our teams.

Arguably more useful than the Flo and Eddie's Mozzarella Cheese Stick Recipe post.</p>

Teams like LSU have routinely brought in 20 players in a year. It's just standard operating procedure for them.

it's everyone.

Baseball has a lot of different issues that sports like football don't have to deal with. A big thing is summer baseball. This is a vital part of college baseball because it allows college players to use wood bats in many cases and get more experience which allows them to become better players. If a player is going to MSU or Ole Miss and they want to play in the Cape Cod League, in Maine or Massachusetts, it's going to be hard for them to go to summer school. Of course, the MLB draft is an issue as well since a lot of the better players leave after their junior year. It would be crappy to penalize a team for trying to get good players.

One thing I did learn from doing a little bit of research- our good friends at Nicholls State could face penalties if their APR doesn't get better. Honestly, they may very well have the worst baseball coach in the country.

I hope it becomes standard operating procedure for us to. Especially now that I am more familiar with the rules.
