This really seems like a great idea, and it would tremendously help the Hump right now if we had the same type thing going. The students should be closer to the court, and if they were loud like they used to be, they would be.

Why do we keep having to put student groups together to create atmosphere? Do college kids not know how to party and raise hell anymore?

But I'm not sure if it will work or not.

At least they're trying- and that's a step in the right direction as opposed to doing nothing. If it works, it could be really unique because I don't know of another school that has a student section for baseball like that.

I'm afraid it will end up like the Rowdies though.

I do like the fact that it seems to be more organized than the rowdies- they're giving away prizes for coming to all the games and things like that- don't know what the prizes are yet.

Cohen is encouraging them to sit in the grandstand because it's empty. But, I think as long as they are there- if they want to sit in the LFL, I'm sure that's fine too.

but I do like the idea in terms of improving the atmosphere. Hopefully there are enough students who like baseball more than alcohol. Surely there are.

I love baseball, it was my main sport growing up. I even played a little JUCO, but it's still not the funnest sport to watch even to me. What I'm trying to say is, I don't think there are very many students that like baseball more than alcohol. Most go for the atmosphere in the outfield.

between drinking beer and The Dudes? I'll give you one guess which one will win.
It's very easy to walk out to the outfield and mix a drink or just bringliquor in the gamewith you.

I saw on twitter that some of the players werespeaking to the fraternities. This is definitely way more organized. I'm sure this can work if they do it right. I always enjoyed sitting in the grandstands every once in a while to switch it up. I think it will work ifit's not 100% nerds and they have way more members than actual seats becausenot many people can make every game or even want to go to every game, even with incentives.

It should be interesting to see how well it works. Cohen came around to some of the fraternity houses last night to give some info on the plans. He talked about the incentive plan which would be a replica jersey to start out with and then getting sweatshirts, etc. as you attended more games. A card or something would be swiped as you came in the game to track how much you attended.<div id="isChromeWebToolbarDiv" style="display:none"></div><div>
</div><div>He talked about the program being more transparent and giving the students a tour of the locker room, weight room, and everything else at the first meeting. I plan on going and seeing how it works out. I don't mind sitting in the grandstands for the first few games in February and March. Not too many students show up to those games but I will definitely be in the outfield as the weather warms up and SEC games come around.</div>

For much of my freshman year, I was turned off to the fact of coming to the baseball field to ONLY have the option to sit in the bleachers for half of the game. I'd always come an hour late and wait until the 5th inning to sit in the grandstands (which were ALWAYS empty.. except for the Super Regional where I bought grandstand tickets, anyway).

It also took me 3 or 4 years to even find someone I knew who sits in LFL. I knew several students who have wanted to experience the lounge, but never could simply because we didn't know anyone out there and didn't want to just bust up in someone's tailgate. I finally found some people I knew out there and try to sit out there as often as I can, but many weekends, the group I sit with doesn't come (Sundays particularly), so the bleachers or the right field corner is the only option.

I'm sure there are many students like myself who love baseball, but feel banished having to sit out in the bleachers for half the game while the grandstands remains mostly empty. That's the difference between the Hump and Dudy Noble is that most students don't have the opportunity to sit in chairbacks for baseball games, where in the Hump, there really aren't many "coveted" seats.

I'm a graduate student and I would join in a heartbeat just to have the opportunity to sit in the chairback seats for the entirety of the game. I love baseball and just that incentive alone is more than enough to get me to join.

butts in the chairback seats when the season ticket holder is not there. I just can't believe it would be that difficult to set up. This would help as much as anything. And the student involvement idea is fine also. I'm not sure how it will turn out but at least it is in the minds of the powers that be.

I've always liked baseball, and now that our team seems to be back in business, am pretty excited at getting a look. Without knowing anyone in LFL, it's generally not too fun to come to games as a student, but being a part of the Dudes (love the name) sounds like a blast. Having the mock uniforms sounds cool, incentives sound really great, and it actually sounds like something more in line those of us with a non-rowdies mentality. This should boost our atmosphere big time.

Very pleased that this will help take care of the empty chairbacks issue, that was embarrassing.

was a chairback section for students in the 80's at the end of the 1st base chairback stands.
