This staff has really gotten away from signing MS kids. (We have 20+ kids in the 2024 class and I think Jones is the only MS HS kid) I can only assume at this point it’s another bad move.

Konnor flipped from us to LSU last fall but it wont matter anyways. Top 15 in the draft this summer. We check in at #22 as of now. 2 top 100 recruits so far. But Florida only has 2 also. LSU I think has 11 or 12. SMH

Lemonis is a lazy coach & a lazy recruiter. We all know that. But for some reason, we kept him. We’re getting what we deserve.
He loves them showcase metrics. A lot like Polk 2 albeit a different era. Polk wanted people to be good at camps and such. Didn’t recruit the right kids. Bunky Kateon over Zach Cozart and stuff.

I actually think Lemon would be a decent MiLB or MLB manager. He can arrange the pieces. Just can’t assemble them, and that’s honestly what college is all about. Not much development in college - it’s about winning. Development happens in summer ball.

2 SEC recruiters and another D1 coach in Decatur watching EC vs Meridian last night. No one from State sniffing around down there. EC is 28-0. Might want to take a look down there. They are a fun team to watch.
They don't really have anybody we need. One kid is marginal. But recruiting this year doesn't matter anyway, since we'll have a new staff next year and lose some guys.

Wrong. Two on that team could play for us from what I’ve seen. I’d take the Bridges kid tomorrow. 2hr and 7 rbi in the twin bill yesterday. Another would be a good defensive replacement. Irregardless of your opinion, they are a fun team to watch.

That team is damn good and several would start for us now… Typical Mississippi State

Konnor Griffin was never committed to State. He committed to LSU last spring.

From Rick Cleveland's Feb 26, 2024 article:

"Griffin broke a lot of Mississippi hearts in December of 2022 when he committed to play college baseball at LSU. That may never happen. Chances are, he’ll never play an inning at Alex Box Stadium. He is rated the No. 1 high school player available in this summer’s MLB Draft."

“The way I look at it, I have two great opportunities,” Griffin says, smiling. “I can go and play for Jay Johnson at LSU or, if it’s life-changing money, I can go ahead and sign to play pro ball. That’s two great options. Who wouldn’t want those choices?"

I get that it is not a good look since 6 of the 12 are signed with SEC schools and I don’t follow baseball recruiting so I’m not sure how many of them are going pro anyway.
I was curious to see how many MS players we have had on rosters going back 10 years.
2024 15
2021 16
2016 15
2013 12
Granted the current roster shows 47 players versus 37-40 on the past years.
I also thought about our 10 best players of all time which can be argued, but with a quick list the only MS players I had were Jake, Mitch, and maybe Chris Stratton. Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama seem to be our best states. And of course NY, shoutout to Bruce.

This is the exact attitude that kicked our asses in the early 2000s and what is doing it now.
No it's not. It's fact. This years class in MS isn't special at all. Next year is better. And when we fire everybody you're going to lose guys.
