STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State's 2009 baseball recruiting class is ranked 15th nationally in the annual evaluation of NCAA Division I recruiting classes conducted by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. The ranking, the highest for a Mississippi State baseball recruiting class since Collegiate Baseball ranked State's 2002 signee class at No. 15, was announced Thursday by Tucson-based publication.

"This is a great recruiting class that meets our immediate needs," said first-year Bulldog skipper John Cohen. "Twelve of our 20 signees pitch, so it's easily one of the nation's top five classes based on pitching. Time will tell, but it has a chance to be the best group of new pitchers in our program's history. Our entire staff did a tremendous job putting this recruiting class together, and all in the course of four or five months."

The 20-player recruiting class is the largest in the Southeastern Conference and the third-largest among the 40 schools represented in the 27th annual Collegiate Baseball listing. John Cohen's first MSU recruiting class features 13 freshmen and seven junior college transfers. Florida, one of five SEC teams with a top 15-ranked recruiting class, out-pointed Arizona State for top honors in the 27th annual Collegiate Baseball poll.

Mississippi State is scheduled to begin its formal fall team practice October 2.

I couldn't get google to produce the top 15 or 20.
