I know this is putting the cart way in front of the horse, and I am extremely excited about our loaded baseball roster, but we are going to lose a TON of hitters after the 26 season. Maybe Parker, Mershon, Woodson, and Jones will be ready to step in/up. I guess this is the dark side of having a great portal class, almost all the hitters will be drafted after our deep run in '26. With our couple of remaining spots should we target multi-year guys to balance the roster a bit? We have some promising commits, but Freshmen normally struggle in the SEC.

And yes, I realize our 26 returning pitching looks great. As loaded as this roster is the message board has to nit-pick, right?

Oak has already stated he thinks State has been too reliant on the portal and he wants to build the core of the team from HS recruits. Yes it will take a couple of years to do that, but in the meantime he can use the portal for 2026 to fill some holes until the roster gets stabilized with his HS recruits.

Portal.

The game has changed. It's possible to have a core, but everyone has the ability to rebuild their team every year.

He got the roster to where it is today in the portal, in this era you have to be consistent with that. Which, if you win isn't as hard as when you rest on your bucket I mean laurels and finish last and next to last in your conference after winning a Natty.

O'Connor still believes in high school recruiting. Every SEC program will reload with the portal every year, but I don't think State will be the most portal-heavy team in the SEC under O'Connor.

I'm just glad we have the reaction_title.9 (downvote) now. I feel like we'll be using it a lot for football. That might be the appropriate "room" to take a pre-squat in. It'll be such a toxic waste dump we can just avoid it all together LOL.

Dude has been here 2 months and he’s already improved us to probably preseason Top 10.

I’m going to hold off on the panic button for now. **

I know football season is around the corner and I expect us to play good basketball but it looks like baseball is returning to it's rightful place. That's something to look forward to.
