I know nothing but I didn’t think that many players were that attached to the coach. I guess we still have quarter scholarships so NIL money is important. Does that mean we don’t have much NIL money for the players?

We are supposed to be upping the ante on the NIL money with this latest transition. Kids are going to transfer every year it's just the way the game is played now days.

I would expect that any incoming coach may bring some players from his former program too.

Honestly the way the team played last year, I dont think its a bad thing to turn the roster over.
I have to agree with you! Heck, the last list I saw had 9 transfers from the upstate school, but remember just because your names in the portal doesn't mean you're for sure leaving, it just means you're testing the waters.

Was the opt in part of the settlement deal, or something completely different?
I don't believe it was part of a settlement deal. Programs can opt in and get 30 roster spots and 30 scholarships or they can opt out. Opting out is the old system. 40+ roster spots and 11ish scholarships.

Let me tell you, most mid-major baseball programs would prefer the opt out. They would prefer the expanded roster. Although most are now opting in, they can't fund 30 scholarship. They essentially have 30 roster spots but can only fund 10-15 scholarship. The question is, "why opt in"? It's certainly not a baseball decision. It's 100% football. You opt in as a University, not as a baseball program.

My son plays baseball for the Citadel. They have opted out, but next year they are opting in. They likely won't be handing out incremental baseball scholarships, but will need to cut 10+ roster spots. On the flip side, CoC doesn't have a football program. They are going to continue to opt out. They want the expanded roster.
