when they took the 3-0 lead.
I doubt anyone is more critical of MSU Baseball early in the year than I am, but what I witnessed this weekend, actually allays some of my concerns. Yes, we have some middle infield issues with the gloves, but I was really impressed with the young uns. And as experienced as our Pitching staff is, we used 6 freshmen or red-shirt freshmen on the mound today. And Pollorena has hardly even pitched this year. I have to qualify today's performance as Lipscomb was probably out of pitching by this afternoon, but our little guys hit some seeds up the middle and into the gaps and that is encouraging. Stark has a little fire in his belly too, as he kind of got in the plate umps' face after a check swing that the ump said he went around on. Stark, Bradford and Frazier are very athletic and quick. The more Henderson plays, the better he will hit. I hate it for Brownlee, but his propensity for the injury may have him finishing his career at MSU as a role player rather than a starter. And that ain't a bad thing. The young uns are the budding stars on this team. Rea (redshirt FR) Renfroe (SO), Bradford (SO), Frazier (SO), Norris (SO), Henderson (SO) are solid. And Porter only played in one game this weekend.
I need to see more consistency against better pitching, but I feel much better.
