Trailing 9-5 in the 6th.

This young season appears to be out of hand already.

Lest anyone forget, Coach PawPaw was hired 644 days ago. And we can't beat Charlotte.

WTF is Donati waiting for? Fire this a$$hole.
Could be part of the reason he didn't fire Paris. As embarrassing as basketball is, our fans have much higher expectations for baseball. Firing Paris would have made Mainieri unfirable.

Ok, had a minute to cool off. Yep, this should be Maineri’s last game. He’s had 3-4 times where it should’ve been his last game already. Grow some balls Donati. Fire this clown. At least give the fans something to be happy about…because it ain’t on the field. We should be more proud of this program than to let that guy back in our dugout.

It’s 100% the reason he did it fire Paris. So do it. Fire his a$$ tonight. Don’t need to wait second longer. I don’t care if it saves us $1M. Make a statement that we won’t put up with it. We already have too long. It’s amazing he’s still coaching. What a debacle.

It doesn't get worse than losing at home to Charlotte in front of a hundred fans.

Whatever rock bottom is, we jackhammered our way through that and are a few feet lower.

I'll have some serious questions about Donati if Mainieri is still manager this weekend.

I could maybe see giving him a second SEC series as a do-or-die situation. Anything beyond that is inexcusable.

Fifth inning - Seven runs scored after getting two outs.

Four of them via another GS (how many have they given up this year?).

After the Citadel game, my prediction for their conference record was 10-20.

I may have been wildly optimistic.

Hate to see this once great program reduced to this. 😞

Mainieri post-game presser is just sad to watch. He looks defeated and mentally spent.

Go and get Powell. He has too much loyalty and pride in this program to allow something like this to continue.
He would be a welcome change to prior hires who were always an arms length or two from the program and no heart in it.

Not an a$$, and I predict Mainieri will be gone after the season (barring a miraculous turnaround).

Firing mid-season has to be an egregious personal character offense, e.g, theft, etc. Poor playing IMO does not rise to that level.

Who knows, maybe Donati has already quietly reached out to him via a third party about taking over next season.

Why is Donati receiving so much credit and respect? What has he done besides keeping a failed BB coach?
I mentioned nothing about respect. Merely suggesting what may be going on behind the scenes.

Personally, I think he's still getting his feet wet. IMO, the Athletic Department has been weighing all options, mostly financial.

Regarding men's hoops, whether you keep Paris or try to find a good replacement, you still have to pony up decent NIL dollars for the program.

The athletic world is a racket. People can talk about all the money they bring in, but it is crazy what the coaches get paid to go away when they fail. All while the rest of us would be scrambling to find another job as quickly as possible.

We now pay players. What a waste of our investment to let Maineri continue to coach. Completely giving up on the players to allow it to continue. It’s obvious he’s not turning it around. Let someone else have a go. Fire his a$$ yesterday.

The a$$hole should’ve walked away last year when it was obvious this thing wasn’t going to work. Anyone with a lick of sense saw this was a terrible fit. There was no reason for this thing to continue except for Maineri robbing us blind to pad his retirement. And I’m obviously just excessively using the term now to give you a hard time for saying he isn’t an a$$ 😉

I agree, while I wasn't happy with the retaining of such an ineffective basketball coach, the $12 million was just too big of a pill to swallow. But I really believe retaining Paris for a program that has been so bad for such a long will allow Donati to make a change for a program that was exceptional and used to have higher expectations.

As you accurately pointed out, the upcoming schedule is just brutal, I will not be surprised to see PM step down next week, if this weekend series goes really badly as expected.
