Would like to see a connection of the stands to the new video screen at Scott Field. I am not graphic design literate, so what I am saying might be hard to follow, but maybe a low-slung set of stands below the screen and a set of "office" building looking suites stairstepped along each side of the screen.

Why would you spend the money to build seats where you can't see the HD board we just spent $6 million on? That would be the last place I'd expand DWS.

not that many seats in the endzone and if it is a suite or club level situation, it would have monitors. Plus, it completes that section of the stadium, adds suite $$$ and makes the other end the focus of the next expansion.

1. MAJOR improvements in the concourses below each set of stands - new restrooms, concessions, etc. Time to step up to at least the mid-1980's in that department.
2. Build permanent seating (not many - like 1,000 - 1,500) in under the new jumbo tron thing, charge a cheap price and make it like a rowdy "Dawg Pound" type seating like the Cleveland Browns used to have. Would close in that end zone.
3. Come up with a design scheme for the exterior of the stadium using dark red/maroon brick work to make it fit in with the rest of the older campus buildings.
4. At least draw up some plans to close in the North End Zone with permanent seating.
5. Upgrade some seating on the West Side to Club Seating (I've heard on here that's already being discussed).
6. And this one is a reach, but it was done at both U. of Houston and Navy - and not as hard as it sounds (in fact both schools did it because it was the easiest way to add more prime sideline seating)... Lower the playing field about 8-10 feet and build more seating on the East and West sides that comes down closer to the sidelines. There used to be a track around Scott Field and that forced the stands to be pretty far away. Houston removed their track, dug their field out and dropped it 8 feet and then built more sideline stands in front of the existing stands. Navy did a similar thing. I think it would improve the home-field advantage to have fans closer to the field on both sides.
7. Install more aisles - some of the sections are a country mile long and if you are seated in the middle of those sections, you have to step over 500 people every time you need to hit the bathroom.

While I don't think we need stands necessarily, it would be nice to have something to enclose the south end zone. A nice tall wall or facade, possibly with banners or logos or something. Maybe a grass knoll with a wall at the top. Just anything to connect the south ends of the east and west side to the M-Club. Basically, anything other than a chain link fence with bushes planted around it.

I agree with everything you said, but I think it makes more sense to enclose the North end zone before worrying about the South. The M-Club by itself looks a hell of a lot better than the high schoolish metal bleachers. As for the amount of seats added, there isn't that big of difference in the increase in total capacity regardless of which end you complete first since most of the non-clublevel/suite seats on the North side would simply replace the bleachers.

Regardless, the committee that has been meeting for months to work on the long range plan want to convert the West side chairbacks to clublevel and bowl in North endzone adding more clublevel seats and suites before even considering the South endzone. The decision on where to place the HD board took these plans into consideration.

For starters, expand the West side upper decks so they'll mirror the east side. Give Scott Field a little symmetry.

-Replace Sections 102-210 on the West side (underneath the upper deck overhang) with luxury boxes. I'm betting those would sell real quick.

-Next, enclose the North Endzone. Turn Scott Field into a horseshoe.

-Finally, put luxury boxes and clubhouse seating on top of the North End zone stands. The Rebs on this board tell us that you can see the game pretty well from their south end zone luxury boxes.

I wouldn't worry about putting seats in the South End Zone any time soon.

The soil beneath Starkville is Demopolis chalk, so any expansion like this would be stable. However, there might be drainage problems. Scott Field isn't higher than the surrounding area, like Humphrey Coliseum, and getting water off the field would take some creative engineering.
