Looks to me as if the portal WILL have some decent talent. Pope just has to get the right guys.
I would not let the current roster keep me from recruiting the best out there. If some of these guys currently on the team leave, so be it.
Pope needs a top shelf recruit or 2, or 3,4,5.

He has some post moves but he is slow footed and not very athletic. Those aren't things that improve with age.
Not many 7 footer centers are. I will give you that yes some are very quick and some are athletic but you are comparing him to the minority of college centers. That is why up until the game changed and went to be guard oriented big guys that were difference makers were hard to find. Not to mention the kid is a freshman who hasn’t had a full off season of a college S&C program or nutrition education.

I respect that Noah is living his dream but he needs to be up the at EKU or Morehead. If he really wanted to be a dominant player go to one of the top NAIA schools.
Noah, Chandler, and JJ will not be back. If Moreno gets first round NBA buzz after workouts, he will enter the draft with it being a weak draft for big men.

Moreno will not be drafted. Where do you all get this crap?
You do not know that. NBA is a draft of potential, not readiness. He is going to go through the evaluation process and see where he projects before making a final decision. There are plenty of good teams in the late first round who can take a player like him and develop him. This is a weak draft for big men which is why Quaintance is projected as a high first round pick despite being injured and not playing this year.

What probabilities do you assign to Noah, Chandler, Johnson and Moreno returning ?? Thanks, in advance.

Moreno will test the NBA draft waters which is a smart way to get direct feedback as to what NBA teams are looking for him to improve. He will definitely be back though. Off season workouts and strength training will cause him to take a big leap his sophomore year.

If there is any truth to getting Prince as GM, I think we can start to move the needle in recruiting. That wouldn't be his main job, however he is well thought of and could influence players to come to UK.

Is that a pipe dream? Maybe, but Pope definitely needs he
Agree, adding prince would be tremendous. Former player, nba player and front office experience.

I agree, I truly hope we find a dog in a center, Moreno is not it, ( lazy, ball watches, makes no hard effort to go after rebounds, can't jump, weak and I could go on and on) so don't give me the excuse he is a freshman, so is Boozer and both were McDonald's All Americans
Getting rid of Moreno, would be incredibly stupid. We wanted to move on from one-and-done and now we have a guy that is ahead of his development in year 1 and fans like you want to move him out?
Moreno is going to be a heck of a player next year and even better in year 3.

Well, we are probably NOT going to sign any freshmen for 2026-2027. So I figure, I will just list every single transfer into the portal.
Along with Dink Pate from the G-League, I expect Pope to go get at least 6-7 more transfers.

JMHO

Coming Back
Moreno
Chandler
Hawthorne
Kam
Lowe
PotterHead
Noah

Gone
OO
Denzel
Jasper
Diabete
YELLavic
BG

Pate will make 6, and expect him to get to 11-12. so 5-6 transfers.

Needs:
15 backup point guards
6 Three Point snipers
I am hearing

I am hearing that several kids from the 15th and 16th regions are being targeted. They love UK and are the only players really wanting to play for Pope.

We will keep

Lowe, Kam, Moreno, MoD, Garrison, Noah, Hawthorne. Imo Chandler goes to BYU.

Pope will add a bunch of 2nd tier portal players who are shooters . We will be marginally better next year maybe ranked in 20s and people here will view it as a great success.
This is scarily accurate. Holy sheet

I’d love to have him personally.
He’s real good and can jump out of the gym. Plays good defense he just doesn’t shoot well outside of the lane. I wouldn’t mind having him or Brady Shoulders. Shoulders is better than Noah or T Perry. He plays good all around and doesn’t force anything. He wouldn’t start but definitely would add something.
