My fellow big blue nation brethren, I come asking for prayer for myself and the rest of my family. Over the past month and a half my family has experienced great loss.

On September 27 my 88 year old grandfather passed away. My grandfather spent the last 40 years of his life in Lexington. He was a die hard UK fan who saw to it his Iowa grandkids developed into kentucky wildcat fans. And boy was he successful!

This death was hard, yet grandpa lived a full life and touched a lot of people.

It breaks my heart to say that on October 31, 2015 my 27 year old brother died of an overdose. Ryan was a combat veteran who struggled mightily with mental illness after returning home from Afghanistan. Ryan was never the same after returning, but I was there with him every step of the way. He also was a big UK fan and we had a LOT of awesome times watching UK play ball. This has been unbelievably hard on my family. We are all struggling to accept what happened. Please keep my family in your prayers!

Sometimes there are no answers to many whys.
All I can do to give you some comfort, is to ask the lord to grant you and the family peace and bless your brother's soul.

While I cannot relate to losing a brother, thank the lord, I can relate to losing a wonderful grandfather. My 87 yr old grandfather passed on July 3rd of this year. He more of a father than grandfather as I lived with him since I was 8 yrs old. Along with my son, he was my everything and I struggle every single day to great over that loss. Three weeks after he passed, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the colon, liver, and lungs. She is battling with chemo but it does not look good as i keep my prayers going. It always seems like when it rains, it pours. So, I feel for you and pray for you my brother. My prayers go to you and your family and while I know this difficult, please have comfort that the good lord understands us and our problems. Trust in the fact that the Lord knew your brothers heart and knew what he was going through, having mercy for his struggles. I'm sure that he is with your grandfather, smiling down from heaven while all his pain is freed from his mind and body. You are in my prayers my fellow brother.

Hoosier fan here and came to check out your board and saw this and had to make this my first post. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, my grandfather, father and brother all served. If it wouldn't be for fine men like your brother and my family we all couldn't enjoy this game and being on boards like this. God bless your brother and all of the vets out there who have served this great country of ours. Getting ready to head out for opening morning of deer season here in Indiana and will say a prayer for your brother. We might differ in who we root for but we all root for all of those brace men and women who serve our country so proudly. May god give you peace in the days ahead.

Prayers sent. I know your pain. My Mother is terminal with lung cancer, my Dad is in really bad shape with lung disorders, and my wife has melanoma. Sometimes UK sports help you get away from it, if only for a little while. Hang in there.

Prayers sent to not only you but everyone else in this post that needs them.God Bless

This. To the others in this thread who expressed personal loss and family member dealing with serious illness, I send my thoughts and prayers.

To those who sent thoughts/prayers/support to myself and my family, I cannot thank you enough. We have received so much support and it has helped! We are still in pain, but it's reassuring knowing others are thinking and praying for you.

I will share this with my family!

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family as you morn the loss of your grandfather and brother. I pray that His presence will bring the comfort that you and your family need right now.

I pray that they were both Christian men and that they are in His company now.

Please celebrate their lives, tell great and fun stories about them.

With Aloha
