Bear in mind Hafley inherited a team that consistently went to bowl games, and they don't face the same grueling gauntlet of a schedule. Still, great coach who's destined for a bigger stage.

I can't figure out how schools like Tulsa can hang better with Ohio St. than Rutgers. Until I see more games, I figure Sat was a situation where we played bad and they played great. Ohio St. may be back to being Ohio St.

So explain how Wisconsin got smoked at home this week by Michigan when we gave them all they could handle last week at their place? I get that yesterday was a mess, but geez we only played Michigan last week

More weird **** from our so-called fans lathering up other coaches. Clemson sucks this year. BC has not played a single decent team. Did you say anyt about Schiano last week?
You sure are good at telling others what to do and how to spend their time. How about you worry about yourself, chief?

What is with this crap?

People have already brought up how much better of a situation BC was in when Hafley showed up. Clemson is a shell of themselves right now and the ACC is very weak, they will not have a team in the playoff this year.

For what it's worth BC needed a last second field goal to beat Mizzou, who just got pasted by a bad Tennessee team.

I'm starting to think I'm a bad fan.

I literally couldn't name one location of any former or potential Rutgers coach or player who transferred away (except Flood at Bama?)

Even NFL, I don't know where any Rutgers player is.
Except Logan Ryan obviously on the Giants and a McCourtney on NE forever.

Tulsa I bet has a better QB than we have. Until we get a stud at QB OSU will beat us by 30 points. They will kill Maryland next week. Their receivers are great, like RU having Sanu and Britt on the same RU team.

It’s 8:30 in the morning, Schiano probably went to bed at 4:00 was up and back at it by 5:00. He’s a grinder. If he cant get us to the promised land I don’t know if it can be done.
Yesterday’s game was one of those throwaway games so much went wrong, where do you even start.
Good luck to Hafley Still can’t stand BC
( Fredo) and Gene Defillipo.
We get them next year at BC. Hoping to be there. Another team on RU revenge tour.

I think it's a fair question. Better talent when he took over or not, there is an enormous difference between what BC did last night and RUs performance yesterday...

Flood is actually in Texas as OL coach for Sarkisian. He brought him along from Alabama. He actually was mentioned yesterday during the TCU game. I had forgotten he was there until they did.

Agree - how can teams like Tulsa and Cincinnati compete year in and year out? Is it an admission thing? I don’t think RU Football is turning away talent based on grades.

Schiano's impact should be optimized by Year 4 of his current contract. In the meanwhile, RU boosters need to ramp up contributions if the program is expected to have a chance to compete for a B1G championship down the road. Upgrade facilities, support services, staff, etc. and players will follow. As well as NIL efforts. To expect performance gains without this boost is foolish. It just won't happen without $$$. So write a check every year to help make it happen. Go RU!!!

You seem to have a problem with me. You could just move on.
Did not tell anyone to do anything in this thread. You are probably referring to the thread where I asked, not told, fans to please be in their seats by 3:15 p.m. because that is what our head coach wanted. Sorry if that offended you in trying to support the program with fan support. I will try to be less offensive in my posts going forward.

OTOH, the OP posted in the the thread about nobody thought we would be better than 3-2 at this point:

PSU is going to put 70 on us

Now, that is kind of weird and shows some of our fans' true colors. Did the OP post anything last week after our "moral victory" against Michigan, saying Schiano doing a "hell of a job so far?" Nope. What did we get? Fans saying Schiano was stupid for going for on 4th down, not being able to win the big game and fans debating whether Flood was a better game day coach. Sadly, this seems to be a common theme with some RU fans.

This is a message board. Some of our loyal fans think it is weird to be propping up other teams and coaches for losing, when nothing is said when our own fans crap all over our own coach and team. That is all. I am a loyal fan. Sorry about that. Have a nice day, and go RU, if it is OK for me to say that.

Cincy just best ND.
BC with a serviceable QB took Clemson to the brink.

Indiana is afforded throw away games. Not us anymore, in the Tri state area loaded with HS talent that OSU/Mich/PSU will pillage from us with 70 score run ups.

We need major progress by the end of next season. GS will do it. Just how much time will it take.

Hafley at this point is doing a good job at BC.

We all know Hafley is a good recruiter as he demonstrated when he was an assistant coach at Rutgers and Pitt.

This will make him a problem for both of our programs when it comes to recruiting.

HAIL TO PITT!!!!

I don’t understand the motivation for your response here. He just remarked about another CFB coach and team. He didn’t lather anybody up (at least not in the OP). It wasn’t particularly weird at all.

It’s a discussion forum for CFB and RU sports. People are gonna share their thoughts about all kinds of stuff. Can we not be fans of RU and also comment on how other teams are doing, or how other coaches are doing?

That's fine if that is your opinion, but in another thread about fans expecting us to be 3-2 after game 5 he posts: Penn State is going to put up 70 points on us.
The other part of it is how many posts did we have ripping our coaches last week when we nearly defeated Michigan at the Big House compared to those praising our coaches. Don't recall many of the latter and plenty of the former.

People can post whatever they want to post, but it is fair game to get negative reactions.

I don’t pay much attention to football outside of our team and, a little bit, our opponents. If not for people here in our community posting about other CFB stuff, I wouldn’t know about any of it.

I don’t think that makes me a bad fan. And I don’t think you’re a bad fan.

In my case, I have so many different interests and hobbies that I only have so much time allotted to CFB. Whereas some folks are much more into CFB and are happy to spend lots more time keeping up with all the teams across the nation. Not good or bad; just different levels of interest.

And no one will care because it's Boston College and their own fans don't GAS.
A bit simplistic. Does BC have less fans than Rutgers? I doubt that. Plus, my friends and I care, so that's at least 5. We enjoy seeing our buddy Jeff succeeding.

Hafley is a good coach. It didn't hurt that he inherited what has been a very good OL.

The question isn't his ability to coach. It's how long BC will be able to hold him if a big $ program comes calling.

As far as Boston College, people have to remember they are a small private school with a student body of only about 15,000 (As opposed to Penn State with a student body of 100,000).

When people talk about attendance/fans/alums they need to take this fact into consideration.

CFB is about the only sport I follow anymore with any regularity if you can’t tell lol. Not that I’m some expert on anything just a know nothing who likes watching.

I say this sometimes here. Do whatever is fun for you and makes you happy. Life’s short be happy.

BC has men in both trenches
Agree with your insinuation that how our lines do dictates how our program does. And we're not there yet.

If we can get 6 wins and a bowl this season, I think GS has a great chance to hold onto most of the recruiting class for 2022. If that happens, and if GS and crew continue to recruit well, we'll start building up the kind of depth of talent along the lines. We'll also start to have enough depth to redshirt the OL and DL players giving them time to be developed longer before they start seeing the field.

And if all that happens, we'll be more regularly competitive against the more elite teams.

Michigan played well, but I think the game would have been a little closer if Wisconsin doesn't fumble a punt on the 5 yard line, if they don't lose their starting QB to injury 1 minute into the second half trailing 13-10, and if the replacement QB doesn't successively turn the ball over via fumble and interception on the Wisconsin 35 yard line and on the Wisconsin 38 yard line, on his first 2 possessions after Mertz left the game....

Moz, our backup is former walk-on. Past coach was not great at recruiting QB’s. Thanks for the shoutout to BC and Haf. Here’s hoping to a successful rebuild for RU. Looking forward to BC/RU next year. Should be a good one.

LOOK at the team not the front of the Jersey. Ohio St. would shellac Clemson this year. Clemson isn't #25 in the country that's called the hangover effect. Some voters still think they have Trevor Lawrence. The entire ACC wouldn't have a New year's day bowl participant this year if they did have the automatic tie in.

Give us BC's schedule and we'd have the exact same record and a close loss to Clemson. Don't think so Clemson's QB has struggled all season, hell the whole team has. He doesn't have 3 future 1st or 2nd round WR's and I forgot the TE who's probably a 3rd round NFL pick to throw to.
