BCS Topic: Has anyone's opinion of TCU/Boise changed?

I know a lot of posters have been adamant that there is no way one of them will play for the title.

Right now, it's looking like a very good possibility. If either Auburn or Oregon fails to go undefeated, I don't see how TCU would not get in the national title game.

What's worse, if Oregon slips up and loses at Cal, at home against Arizona, or at Oregon State, and Auburn slips up and loses to Georgia, at Alabama, or to Florida in the SEC title game, then it could be a TCU vs. Boise national title game.

Honestly that's what I'm pulling for. A MWC vs. WAC national title game would be great in my opinion, because it would blow up the system.

It won't happen though, because I don't think anyone beats Oregon. Auburn, however, will lose in my opinion. Their defense is too much of a liability, and it'll end up costing them one of their final 3 games, all against teams that CAN beat them. My question is, does anyone believe that a 1 loss team could jump TCU if and when Auburn loses? I don't think so.

Right now, LSU is the closest 1 loss team in the BCS. They won't win the West, AND they will lose one of their final games if you ask me. I don't really see anyone jumping TCU right now. In theory, I guess Auburn losing to Bama and winning the SEC is the best possiblity for that happening, but that will likely be too late of a loss. Just some thoughts. Anyone think TCU would be kept out if Auburn loses a game?

I honestly don't think they should be kept out. They look for real. They've pounded a good Baylor team and a good Utah team. You can't tell me they couldn't hang in the SEC.

their defense is legit. if an avid football watches a tcu game and a boise game, there is a clear difference.

that being said, I think TCU has the most legitimate shot at winning it all because of their defense. if and when their offense plays a defense like their own, they'll be put in their place. Boise State is not on the same level defensively, in my opinion.

.... if i had to pick one to play for a NC because I had to it would be TCU because I hate BSU. that might skew my above argument, though.

and there aren't 2 BCS league undefeated teams. I think they're legit. I'll say again, it's just a shame Utah and BYU left the MWC. With Boise and Nevada coming in, they could have just let the MWC replace the Big Least in the BCS and things would have been perfect (short of an 8-team playoff). Seriously, they're going to have to kick the Big East out at some point. It's just embarrassing. They don't even have a team in the top 25 in the BCS standings and it looks almost certain the Big East winner will have 4 losses this year. The BCS bowls aren't going to put up with taking 8-4 unranked teams for long.

talk up TCU's "big win" over Baylor. But I'll say that both Boise and TCU could win the Big East, cause it really stinks.

Whether or not they have a chance to play and whether or not they should play.Plenty of people don't think they should, but anyone who doesn't think they have a chance to is just blind.

If Auburn or Oregon loses, I have a hard time seeing anyone jumping TCU. As long as Boise's right behind TCU in the polls they should have enough of a buffer to beat out anyone that's higher than them in the computers. If Boise loses, however, I wouldn't be surprised to see a situation where LSU ormaybe the Big 12 Champ (Nebraska or OK St.) is sitting at #3 in the polls but is pushed past TCU by the computers. I still think TCU would squeak in but it'd be really close.

I actually would expect one of those teams to jump Boise regardless, so I don't like their chances even if 2 of the top 3 lose.

and see Oregon/Auburn vs TCU in the NC game.

It's funny how TCU has "jumped" Boise State this year, because they're both still undefeated.

Here's my question, how the <17> do Boise and TCU not play each other every year? Thats proof to why I say that Boise doesn't want to beef up their schedule. They didn't think in 2006 "I bet TCU is a very high quality opponet we can play year in and year out at home.."

Unless TCU jumps ship for the Big East, they will start playing every year when Boise joins the MWC.

I'm with pat in that I think it's a shame Utah and BYU are leaving the MWC. That league could've really been one of the Top 5 leagues in the country if it had Utah, Nevada, Fresno, Boise, BYU, and TCU all in the same league.

...get to 10 wins, much less 12 if they played in the SEC West? TCU & Boisemightbe great teams. But how do we know? Here are their best opponents...<div>
</div><div>Utah, Virginia Tech, Nevada, Hawaii, Oregon State, Air Force, & Baylor</div><div>
</div><div>Seriously!?! Look at that list. Look at it again. Those are the best teams TCU & Boise have beaten COMBINED!</div><div>
</div><div>I'm a skeptical State fan (on my best days) and I'd like our chances against every single team on both of their schedules.</div><div>
</div><div>Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, MSU...that is one 17ing division in the SEC. The SEC West has more ranked teams than TCU & Boise have faced COMBINED!</div><div>
</div><div>And yet, if Auburn falters against Georgia or Alabama, then the "national championship" will feature Oregon & one of those teams. You have to be kidding me.</div><div>
</div><div>Bottom line, they are non-AQ schools for a reason.</div>

I agree, if your the MWC, you gotta keep those schools. They would have had a legit case to be a BCS auto qualifying with Boise, TCU, BYU, Fresno, Nevada.

Even if TCU goes to the Big East, I dont think their path to the NC is that much easier. If they play and beat up on the Big East teams an undefeated major school is going to go ahead of them, and 1 loss and their out of the running.

I think Utah was VASTLY overrated. They might be a 22-25 type team. MIGHT.

Here's what happened to Utah.

Preseason:
Hey, we have to send in our preseason football ballot. TCU won a BCS game last year so they are top 10. Anyone else from the MWC?
Yeah, Utah should be alright, let's rank them 25th to start out the year.

First game - vs. #15 Pittsburgh. Utah beats them 27-24 in OT on ESPN.

OMG! OMG! Utah is awesome They beat a top 15 team on the road to start the season. We have to move them way up to #16! Never mind that maybe Pitt sucks and will struggle to a 5-3 record this season because the Big East is horrible.

Week 2 - Did you see Utah destroy UNLV. They are for realz! Never mind that UNLV will be 1-8 in November.
Week 3 - Holy crap they put a beating on New Mexico. Let's move them up. Forget the fact that New Mexico will be 1-8 in November
Week 4 - 56-FRICKING 3! against San Jose State. Plus some other teams lost, lets make Utah #12. No way SJSU will be 1-8 in November.
Week 5 - Utah scored 68 points against a Big 12 school. Move them up, it doesn't matter that the Big 12 school was Iowa State.
Week 6 - Another week, another blowout. Wyoming won't be 2-8 in November.
Week 7 - Colorado State didn't have a chance. Is there a chance that Colorado State would be 3-7 in November?
Week 8 - Wow, that was close against Air Force. They must have been looking ahead to TCU. Air Force is decent, so we need to keep moving them up.

TCU Week - EPIC EPIC EPIC #3 vs. #5 COLLEGE GAMEDAY. 21 STRAIGHT WINS. WOW. WOW WOW.

47 to 7.

Whoa. Did you know that Utah has only beaten 3 teams with winning records in their 21 game home winning streak. There's a lot of 1, 2 and 3 win teams on Utah's schedule.

TCU is the same way. Yes, they played Baylor, which is a notch above Iowa State, but they also beat the other team 47-7. TCU is much better than Utah and probably much better than Boise State, but there is no way they deserve consideration for the NC game. They would be exposed. Yes they won a BCS game last year - against Boise State though. If MSU played Alcorn in the Fiesta Bowl, I'd think we'd win a BCS game as well.

Send them to the Rose Bowl and let them give a Big 10 team a scare and we'll hear about them next year.

Maybe it's just luck of the draw, but they seem to have played the weakest teams that could be found. Boise State is one I couldn't tolerate in the championship game. Their schedule is also a joke and they actually have looked pretty mediocre on the field several times this season. At least TCU has not looked crappy.

This system of preseason rankings having so much weight is a blight on both college football and basketball.

Our losses are to teams in the BCS top 5, teams that have proven it on the field. If NCAA went to a playoff, it should drop regular seasons back to ten games and have every team participate. That will never happen, so we'll never be assured of the crowned champion being the best and most deserving team. As a fan I can live with this, as this National Champion stuff is a marketing ploy that really has little interest to fans like me who are mostly concerned with the magic that happens when 11 guys on two sides line it up and battle it out.
