Keeps us from having to go to Nashville 2 times in 3 weeks and gives us a 3 game homestand.

This from KV's latest entry:

But on the surface, it does appear that MSU got the short end of the stick. Ole Miss gets a Thursday night game out of the swapping. So does Georgia Tech. State, meanwhile, gets two of its first three games on the road (at Auburn, at Vanderbilt). But, MSU did have to sign off on the requests and did just that.
That blows.

17 no, they wouldn't. Just like they wouldn't tell their fans not to make fun of our impotent coach that was arrested for assaulting a cabbie while spewing racial slurs.

Just read Veazey's story. But, you are making ESPN happy, which hopefully will pay off later.

It's pretty much expected that conference schools will help other conference schools out with scheduling issues when possible.

so that we'll have priority for a national telecast sometime this fall.

plus, i don't mind moving a difficult home game to later in the season and moving up a road game against a team with no home field advantage to earlier, especially when dealing with a new coach/system. plus, we beat vandy last year, and GT kicked our butts. maybe we have a better chance to beat vandy, and therefore, a better chance for a decent start to the season. 2-1 after jsu, au, and vandy is certainly doable. 3-0 isn't impossible with those 3, but i'm not quite that wooly.

we actually may have an outside shot at 3-0 now. Not likely but at least a shot. I don't think Vandy or Auburn will be anywhere near as good as GT this year. Of course we still have to play GT but if we can start out the year well and build a little confidence it might go a long way to having a decent year.

when someone is paying you $10mill a year more than you were getting and they kindly ask you to move a game, you move the game.

Teams moved games for us so we could get national exposure a couple of years ago.

What's the big deal? I like having the 3 game homestand with LSU, GT and Homecoming. And as stated before, this builds up some collateral with ESPN. Maybe they can get us out of a crappy contract and arrange a marquee matchup for TV.

the short end of the stick.

Does Ole Miss playing on Thursday hurt us somehow?

Plus, we don't have to go to Nashville twice in a span of less than two weeks, and we get a chance to start off more quickly, which we need to help us build some confidence.

To me it looks like a win/win.
