BDJ say that Callaway PG Deville Smith has MSU #1 on his list.

Agreed, we're going to actually NEED some attrition. How many ships are we going to have for the 2011 class assuming Sidney leaves?
I count Ravern, Kodi, Benock, Turner, and possibly Sidney leaving, giving us 5 ships to give. Bailey will get a medical I assume, giving him two more years, although I wish he'd go ahead and leave after next year. Twanny and Riek are dead weight too for what it's worth.

At the time I hated losing the Delks and was undecided about Hansbrough, but it didn't really hurt us that bad. They would've given us a better option to take over Benock's minutes, but it didn't hurt us that bad. Now if Hans would've played PG, it would've worked out, but then Dee wouldn't have gotten to develop like he has playing 35 minutes a night. To me it really worked out for the best b/c Dee is better than Hans and Barry is better than Delk, and they would've all had to split minutes. Not to mention keeping Richard Delk was no help at all on the offensive end</p>

I was at the McComb game too, took a few videos.. Got Deville once when heweaved through the lane and took it to the hole. Then the crowed went nuts.. I'll put on you tube when I get a chance. I hope to see Starkville vs Callaway this weekend.. Is Perkins really yhat good? If so how did we miss out on him to USM?
I thought Snoop White was horrible, he looked like a good leaper, but shot way to many from outside(would fit in with the Standsbury Motion).

Beckham because he's coming off an injury and won't get a ton of PT anyway, and Bailey because, thoughI really hope he can contribute next year, will be coming off the ankle injury anda soon-to-be reconstructed ACL.

And as someone pointed out the other day (maybe you?), neither will have played meaningful basketball in a LONG time. If the JUCO guard can play a little point, I'd give Beckham the odds for attritionista of the year.

Other than that, I really don'tknow. I don't know where he currently stands, either. With Greg Carter coaching Starkville, I would think we'd have our pick there. I really wish Latavious Williams would've made his grades and come to starkville.

You're right on White. We sat there thinking "damn, he's going to shoot as much as Barry and Ravern." If he's hitting those shots, he's very tough to guard. But he just wasn't.

On Deville - it was interesting to watch him away from the ball. He's obviously Callaway's best option, and teams try to deny him the ball. Provine even doubled him every time he crossed half-court, at least until the last play of the game. He really has a great handle and good vision to get through defenders and doubles. His step-back jumper from the baseline to start the McComb game was impressive also. Plus, he didn't settle for outside shots. He drove the lane, went to the rim when he could, and pulled up for short jumpers when needed.

I wish I would've gone to see O'Bryant and Hood. Are they having a MS all-star game? I went when Scottie Haralson and Osby played, and it was definitely worth watching. Saw Sidney at the concession stand...

and one thing nobody has mentioned yet- don't count on Bost being here in 2012...I could see him trying to leave after next season. If his shot gets a little more consistent and he cuts down on turnovers, look for him to try and bolt

arent going anywhere..
Elgin will be a big vocal leader once again and a big part of the team as soon as the knee heals from the surgery.

the most likely to leave of anyone on that list would be Lewis but that isnt very likely as I couldnt see anyone wanting him.

Really? You really think losing a starting guard/wing with length that could shoot and another guard/wing that could defend didnt hurt us? Come the hell on.
Sure, Stewart and Hansbrough stepped in and replaced them well, but who then replaced where Stewart and Hans had been? Think.

Depth is jawed about all the time here, yet this is a perfect example of how lack of depth hurt. Not only lack of depth, but lack of QUALITY depth.
We missed their experience. We missed their abilities that other players couldnt replicate as consistently, if at all.

Benock and Ravern came in for massive minutes because of the depth issue. Ravern was on the court of all of 6 minutes each game. Remember his play?...redshirt was in order, but he was used. Benock was in the same boat.
And that year was when Turner was a liability except for his when he gothis hands in the passing lanes for a steal or two.
Oh, and this was when Stewart was in his soph slump.

The Delks would have helped a lot with depth, defense, depth, offense, and depth.
They may have not been happy and ive read they had attitude problems(though i remember reading that they were also always first to team meetings and walkthrus), so obviously me saying they would have helped is not counting their discontent.

I have heard from multiple people that Adams and Smith are pretty much ours already. We have been on Smith for a long time, and supposedly he always wears State clothing. Supposedly Adams' family has always cheered for State. Also, like fishwater said, Smith has a little brother who can play, and Adams has a little brother who will probably be a D1 football signee.

I think we get Hood, but we are going to have to really fight for him. In his interviews he always talks about how Grant at Bama shows him the most attention.

O'Bryant is the wild card. I have no clue where he ends up, but I would bet a lot of money that he doesn't go to Ole Miss, no matter how much the Rebels think they otherwise. I think he could end up at Memphis.

BDJ said that we seem to be favoring Luckett over Ammons. We might also like White better.

The Delks were the same class as j money, they would have no eligibility this year unless they would have torn their acls in one of the two years previous they would not have helped this year. I alsobelieve the delks transferring opened up the scholarship for bost, so i for one do not miss them or their high maintenence daddy.

that I'm admitting that losing Hansbrough hurt us a lot more than I thought it would.

Swat was most definitely a project. When he got here, all he could do was jump and get blown away when his g/f was drying her hair.

You are right . It hasn't happenedof late ,at least for a player we really wanted. I think thereason for this thoughis that 15 years ago high school kids werent going directly to the NBA . The game changed, and we didnt start losing players to other schools. We started losing them to the draft(Bender, Outlaw, Ellis, Al Jefferson, ). Othella and McDyess could have gone straight to the pros, but it just wasnt happening back then. The 1 year rule was put in place a couple of years ago , so we are entering a new era of high school recruitement. We'll see how we fair here.

Here are some players we did lose on, but you are right . There is no one I can really think of we just flat out lost on that was at least a 4 star from Mississippi in the past 10 years maybe besides Ronald Dupree and Rice

Chris Jackson- LSU
Ronald Dupree- LSU
Ronnie Henderson - LSU
Othella Harrington- Georgetown
Antonio McDyess- Alabama
Mo Williams- Alabama
Jesse Pate- Arkansas
Darius Rice- Miami
Charlie Ward - Michigan
