This dude, in every interview, seems to be dick hard about State. Rosebowl thinks we're probably slow playing him and that may end up at Houston. If he doesn't committ this weekend, you can almost guarantee he'll end up at UH.

would we be slow-playing him? I'm having a hard time seeing why we wouldn't accept his commitment today or two months from now.

I just got the impression from his interviews, as well as Steve's tidbits, that after Bama filled up he wanted to committ to State but we weren't taking it. At the time I believe we were still on Brunetti (pre-his wvu verbal), but that's been a month now and he hasn't committed for whatever reason. I think if he performs well at the camp this weekend, we may accept his commitment.

We wouldn't have offered him a scholarship if we didn't want him on the team. I don't know many schools going around offering scholarships and then when the kid is ready to commit, naw no thanks we decided we don't want you anymore. It happens to 2 star QB's after a new Head Coach comes in but not to QB's who run a 4.6 and rank in the top 30 in the nation.

Mullen wants to make sure he is worthy of the offer, Broadway played like sh*t at one of our camps earlier in the summer. So I guess if he sucks it up tonight he commits to Houston.

Every school in the country does this. Not all offers are commitable offers. Ask Devin Burns and Georgia. The kid was offered early in the process, went there to commit on a visit, and was told they weren't going to accept his commitment. Do you know the amount of offers that are given every year from coaches around the country? Sometimes a kid gets an offer while coaches have higher rated players still undecided, so they may decide not to take the commitment from a lower rated player at the time. I have heard that we have a pretty decent shot at signing Cam Newton. So if you consider that maybe the coaches only want to sign two quarterbacks this year, think they've got a good shot at Newton, and only take one high school guy, then they would probably want to make sure they evaluate well and commit the best they can get. I think in Broadway's case he was given an offer, but the coaches want to see him at the Big Dawg Camp before they decide whether or not to really push for a commitment.

Nothing Croom did was very common, unless you count losing. But then again he lost at an uncommon rate.
