Nothing I saw from Bagent, good and bad, surprised me today. He’s a very good #2 QB and it’s awesome the bears have him.
Hopefully, he learns from some of his mistakes. He got bailed out with three penalties nullifying interceptions. It only gets tougher playing QB on the road. I’d like to see him use his mobility more. Hopefully, BJ learned a few things as well.

The screen INT was a bad decision and he certainly got bailed out there. There were some other throws/decisions that were not great but he also did throw a couple dimes.
At least one if not both were penalties that basically casued the other INTs.
But he his a back up and he played well for a back up.

One of them was a free play and another was from a db holding the wr who the ball was thrown two.

The penalties on the INTs I feel like Bagent knew were coming. On all of those us and everyone around us knew the penalty was on NYJ so it seemed like he thought he had a free play or threw where he knew the penalty happened.

Definitely agree on the second. He also may have been hesitant to run, due to the fact he was in concussion protocol last week. I’d like to see him use his legs more in GB. It’s one of his best traits.

Not sure what you’re watching but neither QB that has played the last two games isn’t as good as Caleb. He’s not getting traded - neither of the other two are.

In Johnson’s system they won’t have to pay Luther Rome and Colston. They got rid of Moore and haven’t missed a beat. He’s can plug in a wide receiver and get similar results - Raymond for example.

I have to seriously question your football acumen

On this list only Mahones and Stafford have won a Super Bowl and that before their massive paydays. I'm not a fan of sinking that much salary cap into one player and yes, Caleb will be in that range if the Bears extend him so they won't have the money to surround him with as many weapons.

Stafford got a big contract extension with the Lions in 2017 before he got the extension from the Rams, so I wouldn't put him in your list. Goff was extended before the 2024 season, when his offensive coordinator was........

The bigger point is, Ben Johnson probably isn't here if the Bears don't have Caleb on the roster.

I don’t. Running game is just fine and he only needs to run if he gets through his reads and no one is open.

Exactly. I’m not talking about designed runs. I’m talking about scrambling when nothing is open. I think he only did it once, and he picked up positive yards. I’d like to see him scramble more often in GB when nothing is open. He has the ability to do so.

My point is, if the QB always has someone open, he doesn’t scramble.

One thing that really impresses me with Bagent is his feel for and toughness in the pocket.

The downside of Bagent is he has below average arm strength. Many of his passes float. He doesn’t have the ability to fit the ball in tight windows. Scrambling, which he can do, is preferable to him trying to fit the ball in tight windows. JMO.

He did that pretty well yesterday.
From viewing on TV, both Keenum game and Bagent game the passing game seemed to be quicker routes and not as much pushing the ball downfield. That obviously helps with standing in pocket. I would expect GB to stack the box to stop run and play more press to make Bagent beat them deep.

The Bears coaching staff is something I haven't seen with the Bears since possibly Lovie but even then it was only really 2 phases. Scheme wise, they seem to be winning every week on both sides...ST still a work in progress.

That’s one critique of his that I don’t really get. Does he have Caleb‘s arm? No

They test quarterback velocity at the NFL combine and his MPH was above average.

It was faster than Patrick Mahomes, Brock Purdy, Justin Herbert, Jordan Love, jalen hurts, Mitch, Trubisky, Lamar Jackson, Joe Flacco, Russel Wilson’s and numerous others.

Quarterbacking is raising the level of your teammates, getting the offense in the right play, getting the ball to the right guy on time and accurate.

That’s what led to Hall of Fame careers for guys who didn’t have rocket arms, such as Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Russell Wilson, Kurt Warner and Drew Brees.

It’s what Brock Purdy and Jared Goff are doing now.

Sure, it would be great to have the arm of Dan Marino, Brett Favre or Matthew Stafford. But arm strength is behind the traits mentioned above.

That is interesting because I found something that had Mahomes at 59 MPH from combined. Anyways, I was more interested in seeing where QBs stacked up from combined *if they threw*. It was from a Dan Brugler post.

Does Tyson Bagent have elite arm strength, no but he is not walking around with a noodle hanging from his shoulder either.

Jackson and Thuney might be the best guard combo in league right now.
Hope RB room is healthy both were banged up.
Wright is the best RT is league or top 3 at very least.
Ben has schemed the O beautifully the last two weeks.
Redzone is concerning but we are also talking on inches for a TD or two. Need to clean that up.
Rome showed yesterday.
D keeps showing.
Bagent did his job, need to be sharper next week but organically that should happen.
It was a great weekend to watch football outside.
Northwestern's new stadium looks cool.

Something that floated under the radar a bit, IMO, is that they really seemed to find success with Rome in the middle of the field. Maybe he ends up being more of a big body slot guy.
