The following link has the waiver application:

http://web1.ncaa.org/web_files/AMA/legislative_relief/CLR-SLR%20Waiver%20Application%20(updated%208%2027%2009).pdf

On the first page it states:

<p align="left"></p>

<font size="3">The philosophy of the (Sub)Committee for Legislative Relief is to review requests to waive the normal application of the legislation while considering the following to determine if relief is appropriate; </font></p><font size="1">

• </p></font><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="3"><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="3">The purpose or intent of the legislation. </font></font><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="1"><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="1">

• </p></font></font><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="3"><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="3">The involvement and the overall well-being of the student-athlete. </font></font><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="1"><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="1">

• </p></font></font><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="3"><font face="Times New Roman,Times New Roman" size="3">A competitive or recruiting advantage.

(bold not mine)

It states on the first page that they consider intent of the rule and considering Masoli had already enrolled in a graduate program at Oregon prior to getting kicked off the team, it's hard to argue his waiver follows the intent of the rule.</font></font>

I wonder what Masoli said in the section that says "Waiver/transfer request reasons."

Masoli, "I really need some help and since Reverend Nutt is in the people helping business, I wanna play for him. I MEAN....I found a degree I'm really interested in and Oregon doesn't have it, so I want to transfer to Ole Miss, oh yeah, I want to waive the one year sit out rule if you guys will let me. Thank you NCAA."

Signed,

Boone and Nutt embarrassed their university with the **** they spewed at the press conference yesterday.

They act like they're trying to help this poor misunderstood young man. If that's truely the case, then they should be in favor of the ruling because this young man gets another year of free education and access to the athletic facilities and programs. It's as clear as museum glass; these guys are in it for themselves and how they can use Mazoli (as Nutt called him; the damn coach can't even pronounce the player's name correctly).

What a <17>ing joke of an administration.
