You realize one of those is the blocked punt, right?

And that block was not on him, #82 simply failed to block the blocker. I think he took 2 steps before booting...so simply it was a breakdown in the blocking. aGAIN...on the ST coach

I disliked Bell replacing Swedenburg, but Bell proved himself--as did the ST coach on that decision. He has a good punting and kickoff leg.

As much as I like Baker and as good of a punter as I think he is I can understand going to Bell. Swede is in his final year of eligibility and not a SUPER STAR by any means... why not try out your scholarship god-awful kicker out at punter? As horrible as a person as some people on this board might think Dan is I don't know that he's one of those coaches that will rob a kid of a scholarship for performance. You made a commitment to the guy for a free education, so give it to him. He has value at punter.

The only problem I have with it is there needs to be the same amount of job security at every position and there isn't. Some guys are golden no matter how awful they are. I don't get it. Other than a QB change that was almost required to an extent I can't remember many guys since Dan coming in that have lost their job to guys their junior.

Maybe that's just a case of the Mississippi State sickness of "new guy could do better" and I'm nitpicking. I think somewhere along the way someone could do better though.

Bell is bad at everything he does. Last year he had the excuse of being a freshman, but he should be over playing on the big stage now. Use him for long FGs and kickoff duties only. Swedenberg I don't think ever had a punt returned on him. ****, didn't we lead the country in net punting last year?

I don't agree with this. If Dan didn't pick and choose when the better talent plays, I wouldn't be so upset. He does it to save face - his face.

Swede had one of the better averages in the SEC. Can anybody remember the last time he shanked one? It was unbelievable how many punts he hit inside the 10. Unless there was an injury that I don't know about, there was no reason to hand over the keys to Bell.

He did punt 2 short ones that died within the 10 yard line, but let's all agree on the fact that the guy is not building any confidence in our special teams when he trots out there with those 17'ing yellow shoes on. He had one blocked, 2 pinned down in the red zone (which I'll give him that), first punt of 42 yards and the great 30 yard punt that put A & M in business at their 46. Luckily, Whitley played football for that series and got an int when they were throwing toward the right side of the end zone.

I'm not just on Bell. Hell, he's sent out there by Mullen. Same with the QB's. We lost at least 3 to 4 series early on with the QB shuffle.

Didn't he hit one or two bad punts against Kentucky? Seems like Swede punts haven't had as much hang time this year. He has been consistent in the past and we had great net punting last year.

Tyler did play a couple early but I didn't have a problem letting Dak come off the bench this week. Had a very difficult game last week in which he played the entire game and then the emotions of losing his mom. I actually liked the move. You didn't add the additional pressure of having to start on top of all that. He's still young and you had a veteran in the bullpen you can trot out there for a few innings. I liked the move.

Agreed. What does Dan not understand about you put TR in the game to throw it around - and I don't mean bubble screens. A stop it if you can. State's best weapons on offense are the WRs (not to be confused with the TEs). The whole idea is to keep the LBs on their heels and out of the gaps. Then he plays Dak the whole second half and nobody's respecting his throwing ability.

How does Chip Kelly win in Philly with a pocket passer? His number is on the speed-dial, Dan.

Swede had one for 41 and another for 31 late in the game (probably the one you're referring to). Other than that Bell did the rest of the punting (39-46). Swede must be injured because his average has dropped through the season. He hasn't punted the last two weeks.

Yeah that was what I was probably thinking of. I've wondered if he is hurt or if something is off this year. He was very good last year though.
