We sure could have used him last year. Another talent that left S-Vegas... Nice job Stans, your team is out of control.
You now went all in with the Renardo Sidney Show, you better hope it has a good ending....

actually coach and teach fundamentals?
Instill team discipline?
Run an offense?

We didnt win in basketball during the 70's and 80's, so if we didn't have The Recruiter, we would automatically go back to those days

Possibly so....Prior to Stansbury taking overthe head coaching duties in 1998, the Bulldogs had totaled seven postseason tournament berths and eclipsed the 20-win mark just seven times in the school's 86 previous years of basketball competition...We have won 20-plus games nine times under Stansbury's guidance, and averaged 21 wins per season and have participated in post-season tournament play 10 times.Since 1998-99, MSU is the winningest program in the SEC Western Division and is third overall behind Kentucky and Florida....But you don't care about any of this do you.

He will give us his daily lecture on why he knows more about basketball than anybody else and surely his Junior High experience as a coach could win over 20 every year at MSU. Of course he would have to get off his 24 hour round the clock keyboard to coach and recruit. No problem thoughI am sure, he could hire such bastions and morally fixturesof coaching such as JohnBrady and Richard Williams to join his staff. Surely we could make the sweet sixteen every year and win the SEC every year with this outstanding group.

we would have had 3 more trips, but we were scared of the "darkies" in the 1960's

lots of schools have the same history we do. Only 1 school per conference went to postseason until the 1970's. Our history was really no worse than alot of the other SEC schools. Our 6 SEC titles are in the top half of the SEC all-time

"eclipsed the 20-win mark just seven times in the school's 86 previous years of basketball competition"

Until the 70's, teams only played about 25 games a year...now they play around 35- think that has something to do with it? Is 20-15 with the type of schedule we play something you call good? Our SOS is 10th in the SEC since The Recruiter took over

"Since 1998-99, MSU is the winningest program in the SEC Western Division and is third overall behind Kentucky and Florida."

maybe in conference games- but postseason defines winning more than what we do in the West. We are 1 of only 3 teams not to make a Sweet 16 since The Recruiter took over. We have 1 SEC title in 13 years. Come March, we will only have made 2 NCAA's in the last 6 years. The Recruiter is 69-70 vs top 150 RPI teams the last 5 years. You can spout out best in the West all you want- but when you have a losing record vs the top 45% of college basketball, it means you are not a very good team. But you dont care about that do you?

"have participated in post-season tournament play 10 times"

70% of BCS teams make postseason every year, and is actually a little higher now that there is the CBI Tourney. You have to be really ****** to not make postseason now- meaning a losing record. And with our SOS, it's damn near impossible to have a losing record.

Here are the SEC win totals since Rick became
head coach. The high water mark for him as of now is over the last three
years he is tied for third. The low water mark is over the last six
years he is tied for fifth. The bottom row shows our overall finishes in
the SEC in each of those years. Other than that one time frame, he has never been the third winningest program during his tenure.

is the last half of The Recruiter's tenure (6 years), we are tied for 5th in the SEC in wins with LSU...and this is the most successful thing we have done- to maintain top half supremacy in the SEC

Did a uconn guard drop 40 on him like the vandy guard did 2 years ago. Yes he can hit open shots. How many did he miss? He can't play D in the SEC. PERIOD.

not that we play defense this year.... Just sayin

You're gonna put Shan Foster's epic shooting night on a lack of D from Hansbrough??????? That dude was unstoppable that night in the second half and overtime. Ben wasn't the only one getting lit up as you can see below. The first one was over Gordon. The next two with Ben having a hand in his face. The next one open because Barry got screened and the last one over Barry. Don't know about the ones before that. Ben certainly did a decent job on him. It was Senior Night in Memorial. What did you expect?

Ben had 19 points, was 7-16 in shooting , 2-6 from downtown, 5-6 on FT's, had 5 rebounds, and 4 assists and played the whole game(40 mins).
Notre Dame only played 7 players last night. Now tell me that we could not have used him last year. Stans ran Ben off b/c he doesn't run anything that resembles an offense and he let J-Money literally run the team when he was here.

I get that Stansbury has too many transfers but I do not understand this bizarre lovefest with guys that leave MSU. If they don't want to be here then screw them whether they hated the coach or not.

What good is it to have a guy that can recruit if once the players get here, they dont respect him or his coaching ability, and decide to leave after a couple of years? How can we ever build a top team like that?

I get so frustrated with people saying he should stay another year because of the recruiting class. Why? So we can see which one or two transfers out?

It's another thing when they don't want to play for your coach. It would have been easy for Hansbrough to say Starkville wasn't a good fit and that although he liked playing there, it would be better to transfer. Kudos to him for not openly bashing Stans, but he obviously didn't give the real reason he was transferring. His transfer may not have had anything to do with his like/dislike of or respect/lack thereof for Stansbury. However, it concerns people when it appears smart glue guys don't like playing for Stansbury.

As far as the love for Hansbrough in particulr, he was a smart player that would be avery good role player on a well coached team. The problem isour offense turned him into nothing but a spotup shooter, reliant on somebody else drawing a double team to get him open.Being able to run a guy like that (hopefully no better than your third best scorer) off screens for good shots really puts pressure on the defense, and we couldn't take advantage of that.

Delks were likewisepotential role players that really could have made a difference forState. And we obviously could use Romero, and unless his attitude wasjust ******, there's no excuse for him not playing more, asa good coach would be lookingfor any serviceable alternative to reduce his reliance on Kodi and Ravern.

Hypothetical question. Do you care what a girl friend from two years ago is doing now? Let it go. You move on and don't worry about who she is banging or how she looks now.

7 for 16 is decent but not stellar. Ben is on the bubble for a SEC guard and falls off the list since he is slow and short and cannot play defense.<div>
</div><div>He left because Stans would not guarantee his daddy that he would be a guaranteed starter. Which is the correct decision. Ben is a solid 2 guard on 1 end of the court but not on the other end.</div><div>
</div><div>And what you don't know about basketball could fill up an entire message board. Oh wait, it already does.</div>

The mf'er starts for a better team than we have in the best conference in the country. And you dont think he can play in the SEC?

And if what you say is true about The Recruiter not making him a guaranteed starter, then he needs to be fired immediately for being so stupid.

out of all of the tfers, Ben hurt the worst.

Though I think his reason for leaving was due to Stans giving J-money the keys to the car.

despite anything you say he is and always will be a defensive liability for any team. which is why, practice gym or not, he is playing his last year of basketball. he simply is not athletic enough to play defense in the sec. <div>
</div><div>you can't get it through your sick hate that the facts are he left not out of dislike of stans but out of the reality he was not guaranteed a starting spot. which is why he transferred to ND, because they guaranteed him a starting spot. he would be starting for us this year but he would not have last year. but he would still get schooled by most SEC guards. did you even wake up to notice that the other teams we played intentionally got the ball to whoever ben was guarding? </div><div>
</div><div>by the way, ben's brother was a great college player. how is he doing in the nba? should be an all star right?</div><div>
</div><div>i'm not saying stans is a good coach. i am saying that ben is not the supreme baller you think he is and he didn't leave because stans is a joke/clown of a coach. </div><div>
</div><div>you sure do know about clown/joke coaches... you know A LOT about that</div><div>
