After we played LSU people were commenting Simmons was a punk and I disagreed. I hadn't really watched him play that much before that, but I've watched this entire Florida game and you know what? He is a punk, and he is very selfish for not being an overly talented scorer. Not saying he won't be great but he has most certainly left a bad taste after today.

side note LSU and UF are both garbage, obviously LSU played out of their heads against us, but losing to them is making feel awful about our team

I'd love to have some arrogance on this years team. Those two helped take us to a natty title game and 2 final fours.

I don't think he's a punk, but he is cocky. I doubt he's had a lot of guys take it to him and shut him up, and I don't see anyone in college who could this year. He's a super talented player and will make a good pro. But I wouldn't mind seeing Boogie being the first to welcome him to the league

You put up those numbers on a regular basis like he does and you earn the right to be arrogant.

Make it 28 and 17 now to make it a 1 point game.

Dude is ridiculous. Although 7 TOs by him in the 2nd half have hurt LSU. Trying to do too much

Fairly certain I heard it said Tuesday night that he had played unselfishly for the first part of the season, but was encouraged to start doing more. He's not only the best player on their team, he's one of the best in the country. It'd be foolish for him not to take a lot of shots. I sure wish we had him.

Simmons is a very good player but I think he cost his team a chance to get a win today by trying to do too much. Too many turnovers by him in the 2nd half really hurt LSU today.

Really good...in college, which i guess is what counts now. Still remains to be seen if he is the best prospects since whomever the last best prospect was....

I read where that's not his personality but he's been told recently to try and carry his team to wins, so I think he's developing an edge. (and possibly overdoing it at times.)

Nothing I love better than cocky, arrogant, athletes WHEN THEY BACK IT UP.

I tell my guys all the time. You wanna look pretty in front of your work out mirror and act like a woman, fine. I get it.

But you better show up. If not, they work out in front of the concrete wall that I have designated for them until they reappear.

Dude rebounds 12 without trying. Simmons competitive spirit is off the charts is why he rebounds so well. That desire to win is STRONG in him. I wish we had him here.

I believe he is only 19. Most, if not all of us weren't fully developed as a mature adult at that point in time of Our lives.
He is a very good bball player. He ought to be a little cocky or assured of his abilities.

Its sad people make threads like this about college players. God forbid they show some emotion, swag or fight. It makes the fanbase look terrible.

Bet the same people were labeling Boogie a soft giant & " mis-understood."

I think the way he acts on the court is fine. Players should be confident, especially when they can back it up. As long as they show some humility off the court. He isn't a dirty player. And it figures LSU would go 3-20 from the three the next game after they shot it so well against us.

Simmons is a natural the game comes easy to him, one of those type players come along every so often and most of the rest of them just go as far as their work ethic and desire carries them.

Right before he attacks the basket, Simmons often swings his elbows high (while holding the basketball) around on the defender guarding him to get additional space and to get his shot off. Florida's breakout player, Justin Leon (14 pts, 9 reb), was actually able to draw two charging fouls against Simmons (might see those on the UF-LSU game highlights) when he guarded Simmons closely. Finney-Smith (14 pts) actually got cut on his lips by Simmons' elbows and had to leave a good portion of the 2nd half of our game. It was too bad for UF because DFS was about to go off offensively. At one point, the refs were deciding whether to throw Simmons out of the ball game (?intentional foul) after one of those called fouls. I think that will be something to keep watching out for as LSU's SEC season continues along.

Ben Simmons is a great player and is deadly during fast break opportunities for LSU. That is how Simmons was able to get most of his points - either at the free throw line after getting fouled or during transition baskets. Florida used up to four different players (D.Robinson, J.Leon, DFS, and D.Walker) by committee to guard Simmons throughout our game. While Simmons (28 pts, 17 reb, 4A; 14/16 from FT line) was able to score impressively for LSU, Florida's defense hounded him at times and forced him into 8 turnovers. The most costly, last turnover occurred when LSU was down one point with about 30+ seconds left and Simmons was called for traveling when he tried passing the ball to a teammate at the last instance.

To me, Ben Simmons game kind of reminds me of UCLA's 6'9" Point-Forward Kyle Anderson. Florida played that UCLA team on its way to its last Final4 in 2014. Both are great passers that can involve other teammates and are also prolific scorers.

Simmons may be a bit cocky but when you are the best player in college basketball it tends to happen. I do not feel sorry for Simmons one bit that he is on a mediocre team though. He made the choice to be on an irrelevant team for his one year in college.
