Makes you wonder how poorly he would have done had it not skipped the bowl game to prep for it.

Cue the "I am 42 years old and can do more reps than that...even after I run sprints and train some full contact MMA"

I prly can't do one rep at that weight. But if you put me on scholarship for 4-5 years to train I feel like I could proooooooooooobably clear 10 reps.

I could be wrong but I thought I read an article about how Stanford doesn't do much benching anymore...

As great of a workout flat benching is, it doesn't really have any benefit to playing football. He ran a 4.4 and gametape don't lie. Still a high-mid 2nd rounder.

You have never seen a running back drop the ball and do a two handed push of a defender directly away from his body?

Me either. I wonder how much more successful he would be if he could have down 20 reps.

You could try to make an argument about pass pro. I'm more just baffled as to how you spend those years lifting and can't put up more reps than that. At a minimum you knew you were gonna get tested on it at the combine.

How does a WR or RB not run a sub 4.5? Don't they run in practice? They spend all those years taking hand offs, running routes or catching passes then sprinting. Didn't they realize they were going to get tested in the 40?

Not really comparable to a sprint, more like a middle distance. We're not talking 1-rep max here. It's a measure of endurance through the exercise, not brute strength. The ability to improve one's bench reps on an unspectacular weight like that has more to do with training than God-given ability.

Ok where is the higher level of sarcasm, the first post, or this post that seems to provide a serious answer to a sarcastic question. Happy freaking Friday! It is happy hour for me!
