Cary Grove handily
This is 7a football.really?
Benet out-played and out-coached JCA. If benet can do that, they can win.
This is 7a football.
Cary Grove's only loss is to a very good Huntley team.
Maybe. The lack of depth due to injury would really become a problem though.Lol JCA would beat most 7a teams.
They're healthy nowMaybe. The lack of depth due to injury would really become a problem though.
Lol flawed logic trying to prove a stupid point. They are healthy for now!
Helps that they have seen a similiar offense, yes.Not that CoM is CG but Benet shut them down and they run simliar offense to CG

Nobody in the state runs the triple option as good as Cary-Grove and prairie ridge. That's why they always have deep playoff runsIt's simple, can benet defend the triple option? If they can it will be a tight game and likely a Benet win. If the struggle Cary wins going away.
Also it's supposed to rain Thursday and Friday. What factor will that play on an already chewed up Cary grass field?
Cary grove has a great coaching staff. Cary runs the triple option so well. They have Pennington who can get those extra yards down the middle and speedy Ryan Magel to run on the outside. The defense is allowing less than 14 points a game.really?

HHelps that they have seen a similiar offense, yes.
However, COM was bad this year. The level of execution, specifically the reads by the QB, are going to be at a different level by Cary Grove.
Has benet played a triple option team lately? Teams who don't see the option tend to struggle so much against cary-grove because they run it so well. Pennington is tough guy to take down. He rushes for like 3-4 yards every run. They also have a speedy back that runs on the outside. Cary Grove has a good defense as well. The defense is allowing an average of 14 points per game. It might be lower.I give Benet a legit shot in this one. The strength of the Benet defense is their DT's and MLB. They should have the personnel to limit CG's #1 threat in the triple-option, FB Pennington. Looks like the backup QB played well last week for CG. Not sure if the starter will be back or not. I'm guessing CG might find more success on the perimeter of Benet's defense.
As for Benet's offense, the QB is a nice player. He executes their short passing game very well. The LB and DB who rotate in at RB have been very effective. Benet also has a nice group of receivers....a few of whom have good size.
This is an interesting matchup. Many will not give Benet much of a chance, but they would seem to match up pretty well with CG. We shall see.

Cary grove has been running it since 2004I hate that triple option trash
True Cary hasn't been able to finish in the state finals but onceI think there is something to that, especially with so many teams running the spread now. that said, it's hard to argue that anyone runs it better than MC, which is why they not only run deep playoff runs, but also have the second most titles in the state.
I can't figure out what's going on at CoM.

I think this team will get past this week and will give Batavia a good battle in the quartersQB play is not as strong as it has been at CG during their past title runs. Not to take anything away from Sullivan, but Mitz, Krebs, Baker and even Gregoire ran it better and were more of a threat to keep and run it than this team's QBs. Not sure if Sullivan will be back either for the Benet game at this point either, but it is unlikely if he does indeed have mono.
More of an outside running game this year with Magel and Pressley, and Pennington, while strong and good for 3-4 and an occasional 10+ yard burst, he isn't running behind Ruhland, Gomez and Topal this year and you can see the difference in his numbers.
If Benet can neutralize the run like Huntely did, they will win the game. Too one-dimensional on offense and while the defense is an athletic and speedy bunch who flock to the ball, we'll see how they do against a team like Benet this week.
Also Huntley did state that a rumor was true. That they did practice against the triple option during practice for 20 mins every practice since week 1QB play is not as strong as it has been at CG during their past title runs. Are CoM's challenges and how to address worth a thread? Maybe Lake CtyNewt can handle it.
If I had that answer I wouldn't be posting anymore I'd be the HC.
Really? You must not like winning. There's a lot of different ways to skin a cat. Please look at Cary Grove, Mt. Carmel, Prairie Ridge, the service academies that win games despite being completely undermanned along the lines and at the skill positions...I hate that triple option trash

Nobody said anything about wining I just hate that crappy Triple option and I don't know why any kid that plays any skill position would like to play in that crap.nobody is denying that is effective and successful in some programs, but IMO it's a crappy offense period.Really? I should have clarified. I meant Navy, Army, Air Force, the service academies with guys playing at 250-260 against 290-300 pound D1 lineman..."Mt. Carmel undermanned along the lines and at the skill positions"...WTF!
And we are all forgetting lz.There is a certain mindset that exists amongst some football fans that if you don't run the spread, you are an archaic offense and behind the times. Of course, as you point out, programs like CG, PR, MC etc. prove that thinking to be misguided.
