some of you hate/dislike OM on a personal level. Anything in your lives in particular happen?

As for me I've got a lot of family in and around the Oxford area so I don't have the disdain that some of you have. It's just the rivalry for me, but lately my eyes have been open to some of their douchery that I never really paid much attention to in the past. Sorry if an old topic

I don't dislike Oxford or even the academic side of the university. I do hope the athletic side of the university of the big 3 sports would lose every sporting event imaginable. Just don't like them.

Now my dad - he dislikes everything about them.

I can't stand em, I hate their 17n guts!! Is that better for ya? No I don't know if there was anything personally in particular for you. My cousin got spit on while attending a game there, he was looking to possibly attend school there. That caused him great hatred for them and went to State instead.

About how I feel

Intros down there a good bit, and enjoy the people I work with and the businesses I work with. I just love watching them lose in all sports

I have many friends that are bears and as

I've said before I grew up an Archie fan and Ole Miss fan. After visiting both places I Found that I liked MSU better and they offered me an invited walkon opportunity in football. I was just more comfortable at MSU, I don't spend much energy trying to impress too many people and the people I was around on my trip to ole miss annoyed me. The rest is history and let me add that the thought of wearing a tie to a football game in 95 degree heat was a deal breaker.

One word: Elitism.

I asked a guy one time what was so different between the Grove and Junction that made the Grove better. His answer: Class. Needless to say, that pissed me off.

A couple of my best friends are rebs...errr...bears. And I would do anything for them, anytime they ask. But make no mistake, there is nothing, NOTHING sweeter than whipping their ***. Especially in football, but all sports, really. AND, I hope they lose in every sport they play...badminton, golf, whatever, against whoever they play...Iran, ISIS, LSU, whoever.

The longer I live, the stronger this feeling is for some reason. I guess it's a learned behavior based on life experiences. My Dad, uncles, and many other family members are long suffering State fans. Wish they were all alive to see our recent successes.

So, does that about sum it up for you?

Because most of their fans are douches. They think their **** doesn't stink. I went to the game last weekend with some bear friends and even they said they like bulldog people better because they are down to earth. They said ole miss women are stuck up unless you have money. I I was about to throw up at the game because they were acting like they beat the damn patriots. Yelling that hotty totty bullcrap. ******* ridiculous

I'm the same way. Wish all the best for the university but I'd love for the the athletics to lose every game. Got plenty of friends who went to Ole Miss and none of them bother me at all. It's the people that never set foot on campus that annoy the crap out of me and are the most obnoxious.

True and unfortunately Nafoom has

Gotten bad too. People that think their affiliation with a college makes them, classier, smarter, better looking and party animals just can't be helped.

I grew up in Florida but always a State fan due to my family being from MS and attending MSU. However, I never really had any hate toward OM. They were a team that I always wanted State to beat but I enjoyed beating Florida, Auburn and Alabama much more. Even when I was a student at State OM fans did not bother me. After college I went back home to Florida before moving to Jackson for a job. It was not until living in Jackson did I realize how pompous and arrogant OM fans are. I still don't have a hate for them. To me, they are a group of guys living off of stories that grandpa told them about the good old days. It blows my mind that people that attend a public school in MS think they are better than someone just because they attended OM. It's not like any student at MSU or USM could not have attended OM if they wanted to. It's not hard to get in and graduate. When I first learned the attitude OM fans had I would have thought that OM was a private school like Miami that was difficult to get in or had very high academic standards like Florida.

Most of the guys I graduated high school with ended up at either Florida, FSU, Auburn or Alabama. I can tell you that they always get a kick out of my OM friends now. It is truly laughable to see OM fans try to tell Auburn and Florida fans that OM has just as good as a program.

They are an in-conference, in-division, in-state rival. Isn't that enough reason for me to want them to lose every game?

I've never understood the people that say "I root for State when they aren't playing Ole Miss" or vice versa. That's idiotic. That'd be like a Saints fan saying they root for the Falcons when they aren't playing the Saints.

Holier than thou and smarter than you attitudes.

Those two things sum up the fans I don't like from their school. At the end of the day, we are all from a rural state in the south. If you think you are somehow a high society, enlightened individual, then I think you just have drank your own ********.

Raised a state fan in Oxford. Had 50 year old men begin the cow jokes when I was 3, it was pitiful. Taken all they got, from being told my opinion doesn't matter becuase I'm a state fan to there arrogance. Go live surrounded by bears and their "greatness" for 17 years. You quickly start hating them.

I didn't have any hatred for them until I went to the 07 egg bowl. OM frat guys on a level above the ramp I was exiting the stadium on started loudly mocking a teenage mentally handicapped state fan walking near me. It is now safe to say I hate everything about their university.

Exactly. I have many good friends and family that went to ole miss. I don't not include them in things because of their college affiliation. I do talk **** when we win and listen to it when we lose. To not be friends with someone because they went to school somewhere else is beyond ridiculous. I want them to lose all sporting events, but succeed as a university because its better for our state.

They're the notre dame of the sec. Haven't been relevant since color tv was invented but still think they are the best team in the nation. It's that level of ego and delusion I can't stand. They think just because they field a team they should be ranked top 15. They're just an arrogant, obnoxious bunch that think they're better than everybody else.

I like their women. And their women seem to really like State guys. That's it. Past that I can't stand anything about them. 17 their Mannings, 17 their trees, 17 their former glory and 17 their 'cause we are better than you' mantra!

1. Elitism sums it up well. Holier than thou, better than you, elite attitude. Excuses for everything they do wrong, everything we do wrong is shoved in our face. Have been nationally relevant once since integration, but you'd think by talking to a lot of their fans, they are the absolute class of the sec... On par with bama, Florida, and lsu.

2. They live in the past. That's all I'm saying about that.

I do have some OM friends, though. Nice people. I just hate the collective "whole."

It's their "fans"

I've got a friend who was/is a die hard rebel fan. Soon as they landed on tough times he dropped them, sold all of his stuff, and bought LSU apparel, etc. He is now a tSun fan again. It's hilarious because he still talks about tSun's "History of Greatness". He about **** a brick when I pointed out this is the first time they have been 4-0 since before I was even born!

To me it's always been the defensive nature of tSun fans that is so annoying. I've been wearing State apparel in public and had them come up to me (complete stranger) and try to talk ****. Literally had a guy that works at Lowe's in Columbus follow me and my pregnant wife out to the car talking smack. Sat there wearing his dumbass tSun visor talking glory days and how MSU is really no good while me and my wife loaded pavers into the back of the truck.

It's that kind of unprovoked stupid **** that reeks of desperation that causes me to DISDAIN anything tSun. By the way...the term tSun annoys the HELL out of them...they try to play it cool but it really, really bothers them.

.

I don't absolutely hate ole miss. I like seeing other a mississippi teams do well. BUT as skb124 said, elitism. I want us to be better at everything.

I would much rather us beat a top 25 UM versus a 3-8 team. But it is nice to see some of those seasons now and then.

Regardless of everything, I just love seeing is win our rivalry games.

No ********.

Saturday uber came to pick me up. The guy was probably 60. I was getting in (had msu shirt on) and he said "hey now, may want to read the tag before you get in"

Ole miss alumni tag. No problem I thought to myself. I smiled and said hotty toddy. He said, "at least you know your place is to ride in the back".

I just laughed but after a minute, I thought, what an *******. In the back of my mind im thinking, a) you are driving uber on weekends b) riding in the back isnt considered "2nd" rate.

I then went on to make small talk. he didnt know the first thing about gameday, etc.

To top it off, he had clearly been drinking and probably ran. 3 red lights.

Pretty much wrapped it up. Elitist attitude. They dont get that way until they move or go to school there. 90% of my friends were rebels growing up. All cool good ol boys. They are 85% awful now. Im not sure what goes on up there to change folks.

All that said, I enjoy everything about oxford except 95% of the students. If Im honest, I could probably say the same about starkville.

Really? You'd pull for Iran? I'd pull for State over Iran. Just saying.

Sorry. I'd be pulling for Teheran State against you guys all day. ISIS? I don't know if I'd go that far--YET. I would say that I would root for Ole Miss under two conditions: 1) You're playing ISIS, or 2) A victory over whomever you are playing would clinch State a championship. Other than that, I hope you lose everything.

And when you play bama, well, that day I'm just rooting for tornadoes. That almost worked out for us in 2001.

My outlook on this has probably changed since moving to Alabama. When talking about their schedules, Bama and Auburn fans usually count on beating "the Mississippi schools". So I would be happy to see us both be undefeated going in to the Egg Bowl. However, until I'm proven otherwise, I think it's really hard for State and OM to be good at the same time. So it's hard for me to see how OM beating Bama would be good for us.

An Ole Miss fan could take a dump and immediately crown it the greatest crap EVARRR. No one else has a turd like this. This is the best piece of **** in the history of feces. This poop is so awesome It deserves to have a book written for it and called legendary. In fact 40 years from now people will still be talking about the epicness of this bowel movement. Everyone else's doody is second class compared to our scat. Matthew McConaghey would love this offal.

That is why I loathe Ole Miss.

I've always thought the same about that place- they must require the freshmen to take some course that changes the way the think, act, etc. Everyone I've ever known that goes to school there changes in some way.

Moved to MS at 14, started out an OM fan....

My 2nd year in MS (10th grade) my brother started at OM, and I was definitely an OM fan. Even waved a rebel flag in the State section of the Egg Bowl. By senior year of HS, I was a State fan because I knew I was going to State. Then was typical student rivalry hate. It was early 80's, so they were still dominating State head-to-head.

When still in the 90's I was posting friendly rivalry banter on an OM board (Rebel Rant or something like that). Both OM and State were both decent/ranked, and it was fun. Somewhere around Thanksgiving 2000, it changed. A whole bunch of new and vile OM fans started posting on the board. Mean, hateful stuff. I stopped posting regularly on that board, and started to post less on other OM boards. Then State started to suck in 2001. And around 2004 when OM also started to suck, my message board stuff became stats, etc. showing MSU was really better than OM. Pretty much "we suck less" stuff. Did that for years. Made me popular on Gene's page and occasionally made fun of here (I wasn't here yet). When I did finally migrate to SPS, I slowed and eventually stopped the stat stuff.

I think a lot of 'hate' for OM rose out of the NCAA/Sherrill stuff. Many swear to this day that there was OM institutional and booster backing of the NCAA going after Sherrill and MSU. Well, we KNOW there was booster involvement to 'assist' the NCAA investigation.

So many State fans were pissed at OM for our 2004 NCAA probation. Really for the prolonged public investigation more than the actual probation. Most schools would announce an investigation and penalties shortly thereafter, but the NCAA dragged our investigation out 2-3 years, hurting recruiting, etc. The actual NCAA proven infractions turned out to be almost nothing, and really our NCAA penalties were minor. Of course, we had Croom then.

I can't stand their elitist crap. That seemed to lessen during the mid-2000's but is worsening again. Might be worse than any time since the 60's. I wonder if OM's out-of-state students are the reason. When we both had a big percentage of students from Mississippi, we all knew that we really came from the same towns and high schools and might have been friends in HS, too.

I have always wanted them to lose every game. However, the fact that right now we are both ranked is kind of fun. Actual credible back-and-forth banter is possible. I don't smack talk with my OM coworkers. I've been nice when they've been down and vice versa, and they've never been elitist with me. But now we can talk smack a little bit.

So I'm kind of in-between. I'm over being pissed off at their helping the NCAA against Sherrill/MSU in the early 2000s. Don't hate them, but do hate their elitist crap, which seems to be getting worse.

This^^^^

I had a family member graduate from OM and the OM experience turned them into person who is a threat to drown in a rain storm because her nose is so pointed up in the air. Although not true of all OM grads, I have found that a large number of them seem to have a real "holier than thou" attitude and a real condescending attitude toward everyone else. Snob, Elitist, are all appropriate adjectives, in my opinion.
