Thoughts? Any info on Bessemer City? East played them a few years ago and that game got ugly fast. What will they bring to Pilot Mountain on Friday?

They are terrible...you shouldn’t have any problem beating them. They have one guy, their QB, who is about 5’5 120 lbs and runs a 4.3. Extremely shifty and fast - but other than that - nothing to be too concerned with. I’ve got East Surry winning by a healthy margin here...
I’m sure the kid is fast and shifty but a 4.3? In 30 + years of watching high school football I can count on one hand how many legit 4.3 kids I’ve seen. People throw those 40 times around like mints after eating garlic.

Haha - it was a gross exaggeration.. he is a legit 4.5 guy though. He is also tough - can take a hit. Shut him down and you have a good chance.
I do realize that East Surry is a good team. However when looking at their schedule they are 0-3 against the three good teams they played this year. When they played East Wilkes they were still learning a new system. How can everyone talk about how far they will go when they still have not proved they can beat a quality team.
Please tell me who they could've possibly faced besides Mt Airy that could even legit challenge them in the 1AA west? Lets be honest, the 1AA west is very weak outside of Mt Airy and East Surry. It could've been very good had North Stanly stayed west and at least one of Murphy/Mitchell went big, but it didnt work out that way. East Surry lost to three good football teams in highly competitive games that they could've won with a couple breaks.

They beat Starmount and North Surry, both who finished 2nd in their conferences, and beat everyone else to death. They had Mount Airy beat. East Surry is good and it would not be a shocker to see them make it to Tarboro.
Plaese don't mention East Wilkes and East Surry in the same sentence this year. 10/10 times East Surry would beat EW by 30 or more. North Surry and Starmount are not good barometers to measure how good East Surry is. EW beat Elkin and Starmount soundly, and Elkin beat North Surry. Elkin finished 6th out of the 8 teams in the MVAC. I will concur that East Surry has lost to the only good teams that they have played, however they are still a very good team.

No argument they are a good team I was just stating they have only played three good football teams and are 0-3 against them. Hope next good team they play will make it 0-4.
If you look at it, especially in this area, how many what we could consider good teams does everyone play each year anyway?
Hears a little food for thought, this Cardinal team is junior laden , they drop ragsdale and pick up reidsville in non conference play next year, and yes they will give the Rams all they want and it wouldn’t surprise me to see next years squad squeak out a win, deff a not cupcake game for the rams. I have been high on this group of cards all year. This years cardinal team is VERY good, next years squad is gonna be NASTY!!! Will be the best team in school history!!! I gonna go ahead and label them early as the DIRTY BIRDS, cause they are gonna be NASTY.

At least 7 turnovers against West Stokes and they still had to score in the last 30 seconds to win. Got wore out in the first quarter of the Ragsdale game, came back and "won" the second half. Two touchdown's that ma scored on were not td's. No excuses just the facts on the 3 L's we took this year.

And the interference on the D Green interception and the no call when East pushed D Green was big also. You could not stop them on the last drive. You lost. Quit blaming the refs

I started the disrespect. Someone started saying that two of our scores were illegitimate. Try again. East beats BC by at least 21 and then hopefully you will have a rematch.
Well looks like this post turned ugly :-/. If the cards and bears get lucky we will have a re match , it was a great game the first time around , but the fact of the matter is this , the bears refused to lose and the cards could not stop them when it counted the most. The cards came back in the second half while the bear skill players were on the bench a cramping. Greg Greene, Donovan Greene, johnathon smith were all out for significant periods of the second half , along with a couple others. I can count on my hand how many downs were played against the cards by the starting skill players all at the same time. VERY SIMILAR to how the starmount game played out. I bet you see something a little different this time around
Who knows if Gosnell would even be at QB if Coach Diamont didn't make the decision last year during the season. Because wasn't he a WR the first part of the season last year?

Talked with some of the folks today and they said our boys are excited to get back on the field Friday. Looks to be cool on Friday for kickoff and finally feel like late November playoff football. I love how some, not all, are sleeping on the Cards as being a contender in the West. Excited to see our boys get things going again. Safe travels to the Bessemer City folks.
That decision was made because he got his starting QB hurt playing defense.
I listened to the ES & MA game on the radio and I feel like ES is definitely a contender. They just have to seal the deal against the Bears. - assuming they get there.
Started out slow and a little rusty. Came around in the second quarter and never looked back. On to next week and a rematch with the bears.
