Is there any doubt that Peyton Manning is without a doubt the best QB in the business right now? (In case you didn't see it, Peyton and the colts just thumped little brother Eli and the Giants) Maybe with another ring or two he'll cement himself as the best everto snap the ball from center. If you have a differing opinion let the pack know and why. I suspect most of the biasedpeople around these parts will say Brees but c'monlets get real here. I've always have and always will be a Favre fan until the day he's 60 and finally retiring but even I know Peyton will probably go down with better stats.

I do believe Brees is more naturally talented than Peyton. As far as slinging the ball, reading the coverage as the play develops, moving around in the pocket. But Peyton is unmatched at the line of scrimmage and I've never seen Brees do what Manning does at the line. That might be because pAyton, as in Sean, is a better coach than Caldwell and what not, but I definitely see Manning as the only on-field OC.

AA: I have never. Not once. Seen anything CLOSE to what Peyton did to those 4 poor Saints DBs in SB44 on that pass to Dallas Clark. That was the most perfectly thrown ball I have ever seen. Drew will never do that.

So based on your logic you would rather have Eli Manning running your team over Tom Brady. Wow that's just brilliant

...however, if I wanted a QB to lead my offense 80 yards in 2 minutes, I'll take Drew Brees (I'm talking about present-day QB's, not all-time QB's like Johnny Unitas or Joe Montana). Peyton's biggest weakness is that he's wound up too tight. He's such a perfectionist, and he's so critical of himself and other players, that he keeps everybody on the field tight in close games. A great QB looks the calmest and coolest at the biggest times. Peyton will never be the type of QB that looks at the guys, grins, and says, "Boys, let's go win a Super Bowl" with his team down in the fourth quarter.

Watching Brees is like watching Greg Maddux pitch for the Braves in his prime....he's not the biggest, or has the strongest arm, but he has total command of the field, what his offense can do, and what the defense has in store. Also, he has the right combination of intensity and leadership ability where his teammates have the feeling that they'll win the game.

He is not even in the same stratosphere as Peyton, and he's quite possibly one of the most grossly overrated QB's in NFL history.

2005 - 75.9 rating, 23rd in NFL
2006 - 77.0 rating, 18th in NFL
2007 - 73.9 rating, 25th in NFL
2008 - 86.4 rating, 14th in NFL
2009 - 93.1 rating, 11th in NFL
2010 - 85.7 rating, 14th in NFL

So to recap, Eli has not once broken the Top 10 in QB ratings during his entire career and his best season of his career was still worse that Peyton's worst season during that same timeframe. I know that it's not exactly fair to compare anyone to Peyton since he's one of the best QBs of all time, but the more telling info is that if you look at the players that were around Eli's QB rating each season, tons of them have either been replaced or fired. David Carr, Chris Simms, Josh McCown, Jon Kitna, etc. The guy is a perfectly decent NFL QB, but it stops there.
