The first half of "Baker Street" has to be up there. Honestly, the parts with vocals kinda ruin the song.
They haven't disappeared. But, the short answer to your question is the Music Industry with capitals M and I.
Artists used to cut their teeth in dive bars, etc & worked their way up.
I leave it there & let actual musicians make their case.

Easy answer for me…. And it’s from a score from a movie.

I did not say they were gone, trying to sound like an old fogie, I said they were no longer as popular as they used to be. I was trying to sound like you, without sounding like an a$$.
I only recently stumbled upon them on ACL late one night a little stoned; they’re borderline mesmerizing.

I know there are some words, but not many.
Because as a society we've gotten dumber and worse in an era when we should be getting smarter and better. Why are young kids today still listening to music made in the 70s/80s?

I love the intro to Fearless and Sorrow as well. Gilmour puts so much emotion into his playing.
